Hi there,

That's fantastic! Could I check what stage of treatment you are at please? And also if you had an appointment prior to the Covid closure, when it was due/cancelled?

I am also with Glasgow clinic. I was due to start 1st fresh IVF cycle in April and heard nothing 😔 I thought they'd at least call us in to re-do bloods or re-do semen analysis since it will have lapsed by now. Xx

Hi LizzieBW, I joined a Facebook page too for the clinic. It looks like they haven’t even managed to call all the patients on their priority 1 group (fresh cycles that got to collection but that ended in ‘freeze all’ due to closure). They will then work through FETs that were cancelled mid cycle, then FETs that were due to start but got postponed, then they will finally move on to fresh cycles that were due to begin but got postponed after that. Soooo long to wait but just in case it helps with timescales and preparing yourself for when they might call! I’m thinking weeks if not months still to wait for me so I am no longer staring at my phone willing it to ring every day! 😢 xxx

Hi Twiglet, I also thought that was the order for treatment so was a little confused that they've got the time or man power to do new consultations. Bit miffed about that one. I am pretty certain they'll say my bloods & Husband's sperm will be out of date by the time we go back so can only hope they plan that & take that into account when they eventually ring us. To be honest my Husband had asked me to try to accept a potential 6 month delay so albeit I was a bit annoyed at him at the time it has majorly helped with managing my impatience 😅

Hope you're well and holding up okay xx

Ah that probably did help although not what you wanted to hear for him I’m sure ☺️ Yeah they have also told someone that called that they are sorting people into 2 categories within the prioritisation of who are ready to go and who are needing a medical review or tests etc. So I think they are taking that into account in their preparations... but honestly who knows :-( I’ve tried so hard since they cancelled my treatment 3 months ago not to email or phone them as I know they will be incredibly busy but I think I might need to for some clarity and my own sanity, we are also trying to reschedule other things in our lives and it would be good to know roughly when to factor in the treatment to that too as it can consume your life at that point. I really hope we both hear soon xx

We have just been put on the list for IVF before covid but had our first appointment cancelled twice..Was five months since our first appointment was cancelled..They will be doing these appointments at the same time as FET as they are just over the phone then we will still have to wait probably six months..Everyone will still be in the same place as before lock down x

Thanks for your update. I've called twice but they say the nurse will get back to me and they can't tell me if they mean weeks or months. At this rate I'd maybe hold out for my other option in Spain. Can I ask if you are a new patient? I heard that new patients may be prioritised and then I don't know when they will get to me. X

Hi try not to worry I know it’s hard but they will be working down the list and can only do so many at a time and won’t know when they can move on to the next person as it depends on how the people get on before you..We are not new patients we have been going for iui for a year before ivf..We have been on the list for Ivf for 5 months but couldn’t get in for our first appointment for it..They won’t be prioritising new patients x

Thanks CC. That's a good way of looking at it. It's all so frustrating. I know they must be busy, I just wish they could say roughly when. It's good to hear from other people as I never know if I'm being too pushy or not enough! Good luck too x

They won’t be able to have as many patients in aswell..It will all be new to them and if they give out times and can’t keep to them that just makes everyone angry and worse..Think they will be stuck between a rock and a hard place at the moment aswell..X

Can I ask - is this NHS? I’m still waiting and now really worried as I’m a bit over the weight limit due to lockdown...not been able to get out and about as much and working from home means I’m not even getting my usual steps in (I’m a teacher so on my feet all day usually). Being stressed about not hearing from the clinic yet hasn’t helped 😬

Glad you’re getting to get on with your treatment!

Hi yes this is nhs..Aww this lock down has knocked us all a bit that way..Not easy getting out and about..My wife has been seriously ill in hospital with a kidney abscess and I was terrified she would end up with covid aswell with being in hospital..We have had a terrible time a serious car accident then recovered and fell pregnant then a miscarriage at 7 weeks to be put on the list for Ivf which at the time we were told an 6 month wait..We were devistated then covid shut all treatment which has added months on to our wait so by the time we get seen will be nearly a year wait after our miscarriage..Then she was so ill in hospital and we don’t know if this was caused by the pregnancy or bacterial from the miscarriage..She’s still not fully recovered but having that phone call gave us a little bit of light out of the darkness just now..We still won’t be getting on with any treatment for months as it’s only our first ivf consultation over the phone..The hospital will get back to people but they won’t be phoning everyone at the same time and won’t can give people times as they won’t know how long the treatment will be with the people they are treating at the moment..Also they won’t can have as many patients in at one time..x

Wow, it sounds like it’s been pretty rough for you guys. It’s been a year since my MC (also 7weeks) and that was bad enough to deal with on its own. I’ll have my fingers crossed for you this time.

My main worry apart from weight (I have pcos so it’s a struggle to lose anything!) is that I turned 43 during lockdown. I phoned the clinic and they assured my it was like a pause button had been pushed and I was still on the list. But the longer I wait the less chance I’ll have of going private if it doesn’t work. So....I’m a bit stressed and would just like to hear from them, Altho I realise now why I haven’t yet. Which does help actually.

Good luck with your next step x

Yeh it’s been the worst year of our life very hard indeed..We are determined to get to where we want to be and will never give up till we do..Thank you so much and we shall do the same for you..It’s not easy when age and other problems aren’t on your side and the lock down didn’t help one bit I totally understand wher you are coming from but I really do think they are doing all they can for everyone and you will get your phone call soon..As they said everything is moving along now even though you haven’t hears anything yet you are moving forward..Try to be strong I know it’s hard x
