Just trying to gauge what’s going on with clinics. Like many of you I’m sure I’m anxiously waiting to hear from my clinic when I can be booked in to resume treatment. My FET was cancelled in March a few days before it was due to go ahead and I’ve been told by my clinic several times that I am on a priority list for resuming treatment.
They were given the go ahead by HFEA on 11th May but I am still waiting to hear. I emailed them last Friday and they said they would be contacting patients ASAP but still not heard. I don’t want to pester them but I’m not sure what the hold up is and for some reason this waiting feels even worse than before I knew they would be reopening!
Anyones experiences with clinic reopening would be very helpful! Thanks!

Hi my clinic had reopened, I’ve been in for a scan, had treatment consultation and will be starting IVF as soon as my next cycle starts.
It is a private clinic. I was a new patient. From what I can gather NHS clinics are taking a bit longer as nurses need to return to fertility department. Good luck!
If yours is private too I am surprised they haven’t been able to give you any information yet then. I hope it won’t be much longer. I think you are entitled to pester as you’re a paying customer, get emailing! X
Hey HSAE. I am in the same boat as you. My clinic was named on the HFEA list last week too, I e mailed them to ask what their protocol would be but I got a reply saying the unit is in the process of preparing to resume treatment after closing temporarily due to covid. Even if they just replied with an approx timescale or what order they’re gonna be working in would be helpful! I’m thinking of calling them tomorrow or Friday to see if I can get anymore info off them! Hopefully you’ll hear something soon xx
Thanks for replying. I know it is so frustrating- hate all the uncertainty! I think I might call Friday if I don’t hear anything as well. Fingers crossed for you too! X
Hiya. I would definitely get pestering! Give them a call, what have you got to lose?
I am constantly ringing my private clinic! They are now open and have told me to ring on 1st day of my period. Hopefully only a few days away...fingers crossed!
My predicament is it’s an nhs hospital but I am paying privately 😏 so I’m not sure where I stand !! Feel like cos I am paying I can pester all I want lol x
Go for it with pestering! My clinic was named for reopening by HFEA last Wednesday. I have been phoning and emailing, and they have finally emailed back saying they will call me tomorrow. Hopefully good news, but why are they being so evasive to get hold of? My worry is they are prioritising new patients to get them in the door. Because clinics have only been closed just over a month so there can't be a ridiculous backlog of patients? x
I’ll call them tomorrow for sure. They’ll have been open for over a week then. I just want a rough timeline or month of when we’ll be likely to start, they must have an idea by now! xx
Thanks! I will definitely try and get hold of them again tomorrow. I also want to know roughly when I can start. I thought they had to have a strategy to get the go ahead from the HFEA so I wouldn’t have thought it would take that long to get running! I hope they are not prioritising new patients- they’ve said before they will prioritise those who were cancelled so I hope that’s the case for all clinics. Good luck for your call. X
I was cancelled after starting DD treatment , the clinic reopened and have been pretty good at giving information and yes i was told that things resume in order of when they were cancelled in general with a few exceptions - but i have found you have to email, ring a lot, pre empt questions , ask questions, and i guess clinics are all different, and yes being closed for 7 weeks or so is not going to cause a massive back log i should think....it is so stressful though isnt it , the whole thing , after years i am pretty dam tired ! but defo ring i would say x
Thanks! I think I need to worry less about pestering them! I find there has been no proactive communication from them at all apart from a couple of website notices. It is so stressful and I’m pretty exhausted by it too! Good luck x
Hi - just FYI I know of one clinic that has been put on the HFEA website as ok to reopen but they don’t plan to commence until late June ...
I am in the same boat ! Waiting for my embryo transfer !
I have been calling them every other day , however I am still on the waiting list and they said they will contact me to arrange a ZOOM consultation. After this consultation I will be able to start taking my medication ( I’m assuming )
My next period is in 2 weeks so I’m hoping they call before then !
I spoke to one of the nurses and unfortunately she was not able to give me a time frame.
Thank you. I just rang them and apparently I was on the list to contact today anyway. Managed to book in for 1st June to get started so I’m feeling much better. I hope you get booked in soon- good luck! X
When you say starting on 1 June, does it mean starting with injection or starting with norethisterone (progesterone) on day 21 and starting injections on day 1 of the next cycle?
Hi Lilly, I’m doing a medicated fet do for me it will be having the downregulation injection and then I will start oestrogen on my next cycle hoping for a transfer in around late June hopefully!
This is good, I understand the clinics are very busy and this situation is an unknown and the clinics have to work with safety, wait lists, social distance , staffing issues but it is also awful for people to wait not knowing anything with all the added anxiety of the Clovid situation....and all the situations are working in slightly different way, really good though x
I found out today that the NHS hospital we are at has reopened its ACU. We are self funded but were on a 4 month waiting list prior to the shut down and treatment will resume in the same order. They haven't contacted me with any info or to let us know they reopened I saw a statement on their website. I have emailed to see if they can give any clarity on waiting times and how they have been affected. Xx
