6mm womb lining at egg transfer

Hi All

So i had my first failed cycle of IVF in march. When we had the review theres was no reason why the pregnancy shouldnt of taken apart from my obvious age issue im 41 everything looked good.

2 weeks later i received a letter stating on day of transfer my womb lining looked about 6mm thick on the day of transfer.

I was not advised this on the day and had 2 embryos implantated. A decision made on the information i was aware of at the time had i of known at the time it was 6mm i would of frozen one. I have challenged the clinic as to why i wasnt told on the day. And the consultant became quite defensive saying that the scan was dummy one so not accurate yet it was of concern enough for him to note it and advise my Dr.

Anyone else experienced this and any advise on what i can say. I feel like i should of been told on the day as my choice would of been different as my womb lining wasnt optimum.

Gosh that’s awful! Well done for challenging it - Dr will be defensive as it’s their reputation at the end of the day

I’ve not had to do something like this so can’t really advise but I think you can probably do a proper complaint via the HFEA or something x

Hi

I’ve had my first ivf fail too in March, whist it’s not the same I wanted to reach out and advise my clinic didn’t call me to let me know 2nd embryo wasn’t able to be frozen. They said they don’t make that call yet after embryo was transferred I was walked out clonic and told we will call you tomorrow.

The hospital changed from private to taking NHS patients so think that is why the mix up.

I’m so sorry for what your going through I’m 42 and doing this alone with no more back up would have to try again.

Seek help from someone else at the clinic see if that helps you decide what next To do.

Hope your ok and healing ok after this

Best Wishes x

Were on on progesterone prior to transfer? Reason that I ask is when the lining is measured prior to starting progesterone it is usually thicker and once progesterone is introduced, this compacts the lining which makes it appear thinner on the day of transfer. Most clinics dont measure on transfer day due to this reason. Usually the important one if how thick you lining is prior to starting progestrone and (that is he measurement that is most talked about) most clinics like a minimum of 7mm, some even 9mm.xx

Hi yes i was 7 mm at day of trigger so they had no concerns at that point.

The consultant did mention that progesterone can thin it out. But just feel if id known i wouldnt of made the decision to have the 2 implanted i would definitely of frozen 1.

Hindsights a wonderful thing isnt it. . I am wiser for the next time around.
