Hope you are all coping during lockdown. My clinic has suspended all new ivf cycles so we are trying naturally at home. I am 2dpo today and am just wondering if I should use any progesterone supplements? Is cyclogest a good choice? I have read online that using progesterone supplement between 2dpo or 4dpo up till 14dpo is a good idea. Can anyone give any advice? I have never done a progesterone test so I don’t know if that’s my issue.
Thank you 😊

Hey! We will also be trying naturally this cycle - ovulation probably not until this weekend though! I have toyed with the idea of taking cyclogest as I have with the IVF cycles, but I haven't had a progesterone test, so no idea on this. I imagine we will be trying naturally for some months and so have decided not to do the cyclogest (unless I find out I'm pregnant) as to not make the TTC process even more stressful than it needs to be!
Good luck with this month. Hope we will hear some non ivf BFP stories this month on the forum. I don’t know if I should use cyclogest now as I have just read that it could make the lining too thick and in turn making it harder for the embryo to implant? And some people only take progesterone after they had their BFP and not after ovulation. So I am still confused. Are you using opks? Are you also temping? I am only using opks. X
Hopefully some non-IVF BFP stories, yes, but the game of luck isn't always the kindest to us on this journey! I have an Ava bracelet which tracks temps amongst other things, so just using that to work out ovulation. On my IVF cycles, cyclogest was post egg collection, I think, so that would be post-ovulation in normal world? Most people going through IVF seem to be on progesterone and even the NHS recommends it to be taken by pregnant women, so not sure the negative impacts....
What I am worried is that if I fell pregnant, I might not have enough cyclogest to last till 12 weeks. I don’t know if my clinic or the gp will be happy to prescribe more cyclogest as it is classed as non essential.
Hi Mmmpudding. Hopefully your clinic would prescribe it to you if they considered it necessary. I asked my clinic to prescribe me some extra just in case I fell pregnant under my last IVF cycle, and they prescribed me enough to take me up to the viability scan (7 weeks?).
Ohhh yes I do remember now that my clinic has given me a prescription to last till week 7 too. I hope I will be able to find it! Keep us posted re your results for this month. X
I used a progesterone cream from days 8-26 of my cycle which led to my 10 month old daughter. I was also given cyclogest to take after the BFP till 12 weeks- I have endo & my fertility dr thought it might help the pregnancy. It is worth noting that my progesterone blood tests came back all normal ( it just took a very long time to diagnose endometriosis..) Good luck with whatever you decide to do xxx
No questions are here are silly sometimes it help us be a better advocate for ourselves! I brought mine from Biovea ( it does take quite a long while to deliver coz it’s in America) I think you can get them in other online shops such as Health monthly or good old eBay! Good luck. It took us 7 years of TTC & 4 surgeries ( 3 to treat endometriosis) 1 chemical pregnancy but we got our miracle baby girl. Hang in there it’s unbelievably tough but miracles can happen ❤️❤️❤️ xxx
Hi Mmmpudding. My clinic prescribed me with cyclogest after egg retrieval recently and the idea was that I would take a 12 week course (2 tablets a day) to increase the chances of pregnancy and growth. My clinic wasnt very helpful when I called them after egg retrieval with questions but could you call yours and ask? Alternatively could you try your GP surgery or nurse to ask if they might prescribe it for you? I think that this is a difficult time and therefore we (including the professionals) might not know how to proceeds but it is worth a try! Ps. I dont think that I had any issues with progesterone- I think that they routinely perscribed cyclogest. Good luck xxx
My gp said nhs won’t help at this time as my ivf treatment is done privately. He said even if he is willing to write a prescription, I shouldn’t be gone out. Progesterone supplement is not essential especially I haven’t been diagnosed with having low prog level. But I think I have a prescription from my clinic for my previous failed ivf cycle. I will dig it out x
