Hi all,
I am hoping someone can help me understand why our IUI has to be postponed until next cycle.
Last week we found out our first assisted IUI hadn’t worked, I got my period and this morning went for my first ultrasound to check my follicles and hopefully start gonadotropins (injections) today. The doctor, however, said that I already had a follicle that’s was 14mm and they only start an IUI process with medication if the follicle is less than 10mm.
My question is, only 3 days into my period how have I already got a 14mm follicle? Could it be something to do with my last cycle? Will it keep growing and is there a risk of it turning into a cyst? She wasn’t my usual doctor so wasn’t very forthcoming in helping or answering my questions just said this cycle was out and to come back next period which is frustrating when you want to understand your own body and treatment plan.
As some background - I have severe endometriosis and adenomyosis as well as fibroids and one blocked Fallopian tube and my partner has very low sperm count. We were offered rounds of IUI before moving to IVF and opted to try it first.
Any help or clarification would be amazing! Thank you!
