Sore tender bloated tummy post egg retrieval

Hi everyone, after thinking I might be well enough to go back to work on Friday (after egg retrieval Weds!) I am still feeling absolutely crap. My stomach feels really sore & raw and I'm still quite bloated. My tummy is very tender if I press on it and I know there's a lot of trapped wind. I also have a shooting pain in my right shoulder if I strain too hard on the toilet (nice 🤣). I'm drinking tons of water, prune juice, coconut water, and have a heat pad on but I'm a bit worried about when it will get better! Is this normal? This has been the worst part physically for sure!

Hi. It sounds like you might have some OHSS symptoms. I had similar symptoms myself this cycle, although they didn’t appear until after my embryo transfer.

Did you link in with your clinic to let them know how you’re feeling? X

Thanks, I hadn't but I just have. I don't want to make a big deal out of nothing but reading this message has made me realise it's silly to think I'm overreacting, thank you!xx

I know how you feel…when I was doing my first cycle I was so reluctant to ask questions because I didn’t want to come across clueless…but now I’ve realized there are no silly questions, especially if you’re feeling unwell x

They can give you a scan to check if you have any fluid building up in the abdomen (sounds like you maybe do!) Are you planning a fresh transfer as they may need to delay and freeze? I had a bit of pain and similar feeling but when scanned I was OK and transfer went ahead....

Thanks, I wonder if they'll do it tomorrow (planned transfer day) although I'm pleased to report that I feel a lot better/less scared than yesterday. Still bloated but nowhere near as bad and pain has massively reduced too thank goodness! It's reassuring to know they still transferred with you, thank you 💛

I felt the same and it was early OHSS (I had free liquid in abdomen) so they freeze everything because it gets worse in early pregnancy.
