Just had our follow up with the consultant today and he has recommended an endometrial receptivity test (ERA). I understand what they do/ are for but just wondering whether people had had it and got results that have then positively affected their next cycle? It seems a low number of women come back with results that may affect a cycle but interested to hear from you.
Thanks all xx
P.S Our consultant is retiring so that’s the last time we will see him. Seriously you couldn’t make it up 🤦♀️. I’m sure there are other doctors (and he has recommended one) that we can see but the last thing I want to do now is change consultants 🤯🤯

Im sure you know that we had one of these done but we didnt have success this time as you also know. However I have since spoken to our coordinator and we think due to the sperm quality, even although we got nice embryos there is every possibility that the embryos werent right. When we had this done the consultant in London doing the test said that she had seen success but usually only if they find the timing is out which of course isnt always the case. I know if a lady who had this done and had success and has a little boy and also another lady on here that got her positive after her timing was changed to match her ERA Fingerscrossed38 . What an added stress for you of having to change consultants however if he has recommended someone that can only be a good thing!!xx
Yes I knew you’d had it done lovely but knew that it hadn’t worked this time round (bloody hell!!). It seems only a small number have a timing issue (but what if we’re one of them??) and it’s expensive and another cycle gone! However that’s interesting what the coordinator said to you. Oh god just another thing to think about and we can’t waste an embryo! No it will be fine re the consultant- I’m sure she is lovely. I’m just used to ours and I’m sure he could have waited another year 😉. Do you know your next steps yet?? Xx
I think with all of our failures and hubbys sperm was so poor this time and I mean really bad....they were struggling to get what they needed and made him give a sample half an hour after the first....you should have heard him moaning like hell! I was like what have you got to moan about, that's all you have got to do!! Ha ha ha We knew odds were this wasnt going to be a good cycle, just a shame they looked so good on paper. This was the only test left to do and if I remember correctly you have your embryos PGS tested?! I do think its worth it if you can afford it, could make all the difference.
Unfortunately I had a bit of bad news, my granny passed away last night. She was old at 95 but for the best, she was poorly had recently gone into a home and didnt want to be here anymore...but sad but ok. Regarding treatment, well Ive had a little bit of a curve ball. So we knew we had one embryo left and asked our coordinator to check. They came back this morning and said yes although its not brilliant quality. Soooo they asked us if they could have our permission to use the last of hubbys frozen sperm from 2 years ago and fertilise a few eggs at their cost as we are a nice couple and they want to see us successful! Whooooaaaa! So of course we have said yes, the aim is to hopefully create 2 lovely new embryos to transfer to give us the best chance. So its happening today and will just have to wait and see what happens. Not getting our hopes up too much at the moment!xx
Too many things to respond to in this. First I’m so so sorry about your granny. That’s such sad news and not that there is ever a good time, but not such a great time for you. At least, like you say, she isn’t suffering anymore though.
With regards to your clinic news- how amazing is that??? When do they ever offer to do things for free. See that’s karma right there for being lovely people. DE used from your donor or another one? I don’t want to get your hopes up either but regardless it’s really lovely that they are offering to do it and gives you some hope in the next few days. So you get an update every day from the clinic re fertilisation? Keeping literally everything crossed for positive news and please keep us updated when you are ready xxxx🤞🤞🤞
Plus I chased my husband last night on taking his multivitamins every day (which he doesn’t do) and you’d literally think I’d asked him to inject something into his head. I mean literally. So yes we had the same conversation!! You get it lightly buster!!
Thank you! Yes Im happy she is at peace and gone to be with my grandad.
Yes, Im a bit stunned by the gesture. appartnely they said we are a lovely couple and they want to help us....mind you we have spent some coin there!! Ha ha ha So this is from a new donor, she is a match for me which is whey they called our coordinator this morning - she said its a gift from my granny! I dont even care what she is like but all matches up pretty well. I dont think we'll get any info until day 5, I dont think they'd want to give us false hope of what we get until its solid. I'll drop you some news when/if we get some!xx
It may but how amazing to have this complete touch of kindness . Wow! At least you will know, whatever happens, these people want it for you as much as yourself. Sure you couldn’t ask for any better than that . 😘🎉🎉🎉🎉
I think it's amazing these 2 huge events have happened at the same time.....the circle of life, where one leaves, another one will arrive.....lots of hope here....it's a beautiful story, that I hope one day you will get to tell your little one when they are older.
Excuse my over emotion - blaming the hormones!!!! xxxx
I kind of think like that too....sorry for hijacking your post hifer !! Thank you, yes hormones have a lot to answer for!! Ha ha haxx
I have not had an ERA, but I too have heard it’s worked for others. However, I was told it is only worthwhile if you are doing a medicated FET. If doing a natural one, where hormones etc vary each month, it won’t really tell you anything. Under medicated they control all your hormones hence why it’s of value.
I was considering one, but as I’ve successfully gotten pregnant via natural FET, I wanted to stick with them devil I know’.
Thanks for your response, that’s good to know. Sadly I think a natural cycle is out for us at the moment. I thought it could be in the pipeline but my lining is just too thin. Therefore this should technically apply to me as I think my next FET will be medicated. So many congrats on your natural FET 👏👏xx
Thank you. Sadly, it’s the staying pregnant which seems to be my challenge. Currently 6.5 weeks, but with 2 MMC under my belt, I’m remaining very cautious about the whole thing.
Medicated FET sounds like the right choice for your circumstances. Good luck with it all. X
Hi there, I haven't had an ERA and my clinic don't think the timing thing is a massive issue. Depends on whether you've had a string of BFNs and implantation failure. If they implant, even if they result in early losses or chemicals, then my clinic seem to be of the opinion that the transfer window is ok. My nurse told me recently that its a tiny fraction of women that it really impacts on. That said, I usually go with what my doctor recommends, but mostly because then if it doesnt work next time , I wont be questioning myself as to whether it would have made a difference. I can at all times say I've explored everything and tried everything. I think having no doubts and questions brings some sanity to the craziness of this all.
I wish you the best as you continue your journey - lots of good wishes and hugs xxxx
Thanks for the advice. I’m booked in with the ERA specialist at the clinic early next week to discuss, who may well become my consultant as mine is retiring! The thing is, I could be the percentage of people it affects. Like you say, you want to have tried everything!! Xx
