Hello

Well done for taking the first steps, I know how worrying and anxious it can be.

The day 21 bloods are usually taken to confirm ovulation. They measure progesterone and if it is high then you will have ovulated if it is low then you probably haven't. If you have a 28 day cycle (have a period very 28 days) then a 21 day blood is appropriate as progesterone peaks one week after ovulation, however if you have a longer cycle say 35 days then they might be testing too early.

My infertility issue is that I don't ovulate (I have PCOS) so I am fully aquainted with a 21 day blood. Even if it looks like you haven't ovulated this month that could just be an exception and its good they are testing you in the next cycle just to check if this was an anomaly. Fingers crossed you will have no problems ovulating in this cycle. If it looks like you aren't ovulating then they will usually refer you to the fertility clinic to investigate. They will check your tubes and do some scans, as well as test your OH. Depending on these results the doctors will decide the best course of action.

Hopefully you won't get to this stage! Best of luck!!

xx

Thankyou, I normally do have a 28 day cycle however the period just gone was a week late soo is guessing this would have had an affect on the results?

I have been pregnant before however did have a miscarriage at 5 weeks! This was in January 2016, and unfortunately haven’t been able to conceive since.

Thankyou for your support xx

I'm so sorry for your loss.

It's definitely worth telling your doctor that your period was late. As annoying as it was when my clinic were trying to check if I was ovulating I ended up going in for bloods every 3 days from day 18 until my period came to try and catch the peak. Unfortunately for me it confirmed that I have anovulatory periods. You on the other hand clearly ovulate as you have fallen pregnant in the past. Have you been referred to the fertility clinic yet?

So sorry for your loss.

I have recently had the same tests as you and had low progesterone. Having more tests and being reduced to a fertility clinic. You should ask what they mean by low. I got a copy of my results so i could look into and learn a bit more. I like to know what’s going on!

I have everything crossed for you. Good luck hun xxx

Thankyou hun! Good luck to you too!

Yeah the doctor wasn’t really that helpful he literally said it’s a little lower than he would expect and to redo them! Hopefully I get the results on Monday and will ask in more detail! Xx
