Hello. I have seen lots of ladies talk about Ubiquinone/CoQ10/Ubiquinol on here. Just wondering if I should be taking this! Is it something I should talk to my clinic about? What's the best form to take etc.?

Thanks!

I take 300mg ubiquniol every day....you should take it for three months and studies have shown it does improve egg quality xx

Thanks, Anna. Where do you get yours from? Do you have a link? x

It is crazy expensive (but not compared to IVF) but the below brands are ones recommended by It Starts With Egg:

amazon.co.uk/Pharma-Nord-Bi...

amazon.co.uk/Solgar-Ubiquin...

I have been taking this for about a year now. My eggs weren't too bad considering I have endometriosis so perhaps this helped. I got mine from Amazon xxx

Thanks. I'm not 100% on which, so maybe I will talk to my clinic about it.

Hi lovely. I take 400mg a day and hubby 200mg. We use the 'Qunol' brand on amazon. (Bit cheaper than some of them) Its the Ubiquinol form.

Co Q10 is cheaper but not meant to be as absorbable by the body

amazon.co.uk/Qunol-Ubiquino...

Hopefully the link works.

I found that my last clinic hadn't got a clue what it was (well the nurses didn't- we never saw a Dr) but they were in the ancient ages where time stood still kind of clinic!

At my new clinic it was something they mentioned and we were already taking it due to my own research, so they were happy.

xx

Thanks! Hubbies always get away with having to do less! Even in pill form! Lol.

I buy mine from Holland and Barrett on their penny sale. Works out to be cost efficient.

I take ubiquinol every day up to 300mg depending on how much cash I have, it’s not cheap! Have a look ok on E-bay I’m currently taking ubiquinol gold, but have also taken solar. I can’t comment on egg quality yet because I’m still awaiting my elusive period. Clinic said there’s no evidence for it but happy for me to be taking it x

Thanks for the response. Nothing on this journey is cheap! Going to give ubiquinol a try.

Yes! Take it most definately!

Just to add, coq10 will do the same thing but you need to take more of it to equal the ubiquinol. Basically coq10 converts to ubiquinol in the body, so if you take pure ubiquinol youve saved your body a job. Some gets lost instead of converted hence taking higher doses of q10 to get the same result. My clinic told me to take it but i was already on it anyway.

Have bought some Ubiquinol. Better late than never. Thanks.

Yes, yes and yes! Take for 3 months before your cycle. Make sure u get Ubiquinol ,.its the pure form. I believe it helped me go from 1 embryo in first cycle to 5 in 2nd and I'm pregnant x

Have bought some Ubiquinol. Hopefully it helps!

Definitely helps. I took COQ10 on first round with a very low AMH and had success nearly 40 but then took Ubiquinol second round, fewer eggs so I think COQ10 is as effective.

Ubiquinol is best. Ubiquinone (coq10) converts to ubiquinol (active form). I was taking pharma nord but so expensive....my friend who became pregnant through IVF told me about 'health thru nutrition 100mg caps' on Amazon...so much cheaper and clearly works....i take 200mg twice a day as 400mg doesn't absorb well...and hubby takes 200mg. Hope it helps xxx

I started taking it for my 6th round of treatment and our daughter is 15 months now. I have started taking it again to try for number 2.xx

So what did you order ttcemmie ? I’ve ordered two kinds but now not sure which I should be taking ? I bought Co Q10 300mg .... is this right? ( so confusing and glad you’ve asked this question 😘)

ttcemmie profile image
ttcemmie in reply toRhinoCat

I have bought Vesisorb Ubiquinol because after reading some articles, I found that Vesisorb absorbs better, but they all seem good. I asked my clinic about it today (CoQ10) and they said they don't advise it, but they're not against it. Helpful.....

ttcemmie profile image
ttcemmie in reply tottcemmie

CoQ10, Ubiquinol, and Ubiquinone all being a similar thing

RhinoCat profile image
RhinoCat in reply tottcemmie

Ok, I’ve got some 300mg coq10 here so I’ll take that, should have been already on it, but better couple of weeks on it than not I’d say 😘 I’ve ordered ubiquinol too but it’s not here yet so I’ll crack on !

ttcemmie profile image
ttcemmie in reply toRhinoCat

Might as well crack on! It's not going to harm!

RhinoCat profile image
RhinoCat in reply tottcemmie

Might even improve my skin as it’s in my face cream 🤣 if it’s helps with energy at cell level then it can’t hurt to try it

That’s interesting ttcemmie as I was told to take 200mg a day of CoQ10 by a couple of BH doctors! I’d never heard of it before they told me x

ttcemmie profile image
ttcemmie in reply toKiboXX

Everyone above has advised different amounts/types, but I guess my clinic is just one of those that don't advise things unless it's 100% scientifically proven. Might as well try anything as long as it's cheap, doesn't have adverse side effects, and there is the slight possibility it will help!

RhinoCat profile image
RhinoCat in reply tottcemmie

My clinic are same as yours. They only advise folic acid as it is scientifically proven . Wish I’d ordered coq10 before now 😱 anyhow, onwards!

ttcemmie profile image
ttcemmie in reply toRhinoCat

Wish I'd ordered this ubiquinol earlier too!!!! Oh well, here we are!

Bourn were definitely still recommending it when I did my last cycle there so maybe it’s just certain doctors? Who knows!

Definitely worth taking, doesn’t have any downsides xx

ttcemmie profile image
ttcemmie in reply toKiboXX

Ohhhh I didn't think you'd remember I was at Bourn! Strange they're not recommending it to me! Oh well, classic situation of us having to do all our own research and get on with it....

KiboXX profile image
KiboXX in reply tottcemmie

Yeah it’s probably just different doctors preferences! I saw two different doctors there and they were like chalk and cheese 😂

One of them asked me to take it though and I much preferred her so I have ever since xx

ttcemmie profile image
ttcemmie in reply toKiboXX

Hmmm can I ask which doctor that was? Or is that cheeky?

RhinoCat profile image
RhinoCat in reply toKiboXX

I agree it’s a good one to take. I remember a few years ago I took glucosamine for a sore hip, even my nails and hair were impacted so this looks like a similar thing . Seems sensible. My clinic is full of experienced traditional guys who think all these sorts of things are nonsense if we would all just eat healthy meals with vegetables 🤣

ttcemmie profile image
ttcemmie in reply toRhinoCat

Lol. I DO eat healthy meals with vegetables! I looked up this CoQ10 thing, though, and apparently you'd have to be eating loads of organ meat to get it, which to be fair: I'm not eating loads of organ meat.

RhinoCat profile image
RhinoCat in reply tottcemmie

Yep, exactly why I’m adding it to my multi vitamin routine too 😘
