So following my last post which I asked about the possiblities of getting pregnant if you have endometriosis... so many lovely ladies reached out which I am unbelievably thankful for.
It's making the process of waiting around alot more reassuring.
From the title of this post, I am currently going through all my tests- BASELINE SCAN Antral follicle count, between day 2-5 blood tests, hubbys sample.
I had my baseline scan Antral follicle count on Tuesday, and as suspected and know my endo cyst has reappeared back on the right hand ovary reassuring 3cm which last time before laproscopy was at 7cm.. after the baseline scan the specialist outlined how my left ovary has 15 follicles and my right ovary has 8 follicles (24 follicles) in total. I'm not sure entirely what it means in terms of eggs but surely it can't mean that every follicle has an egg whether it will produce to a blastocyst or not. But I expressed my concerens about the endometriosis cyst.
The specialist spoke with a colleague and was told that in my notes that.. on 13th Feb when my consultant puts the plan together, when going through the ivf process when I'm being down regulated they will be inserting a need up me and will make an incision to drain the cyst so it's effectively no longer in the way before stimulating.
I honestly couldn't of been more relieved the fact I won't have to dreadfully have to go through an operation again to have it drained out... so I definately walked out of the appointment feeling somewhat a little more relieved. As it took me over a month to fully heal.
My question is has anyone heard or been through a similar situation & I'm unsure of the follicle count. Have 15 follicles on my left and 8 on my right, (24 in total) is that a decent or extremely low number and basically the endo has massively effected my right ovary.
I will be in touch once they've put the plan together on 13th Feb, and share my journey. Thank you every one for your support I appreciate every single one of you... and fingers crossed I really hope we get a big fat positive soon.
Thanks xxxxx

Hi. I’ve got stage 4 endo and I’ve had 2 laps. I had 15 on my baseline scan so this is a really good number you have. Yes your right not all follicles contain eggs but it’s quality not quantity. My reserve used to be high 4 years ago my AMH was 33.2 but now it’s dropped due to the endo and surgery to 14.2. Your ovaries much be in good condition to produce that amount of follicles it means you have room on your ovaries and the endo hasn’t effected them to much to stop follicles growing. Don’t worry to much about the cyst it’s only small. I had a cyst on my first round of ivf and it didn’t stop my journey. I still managed to collect 9 eggs without removing the cyst. If you have endo you might be down regulated like you said which will help the endo drop to a minimum. When was your surgery for endo? You will be fine xxxx
Thank you for getting back to me.. my surgery was august 2018, I had 1 round of IUI which I felt I responded well to n at the time of scanning n observing my follicles that's when they detected my endo cyst had come back this was sept 2019 so since then it's grown n bow sitting at 3cm. With IUI I had a 1 day bleed when AF was due but it wasn't successful.
Wow 9 eggs is a very good number, is there anything you can take to help increase your AMH? And what stage are you currently on.. have you had any embryos transfered back.
Please stay in touch.. and wish you all the best in your journey. 😘😘😘
Follicle count sounds extremely good! (although probably won't all be eggs). I've only had a small amount of endometriosis, and I have a cyst which they just leave there (but annoying mention every time I have a scan and worry about whether it will impact), but sounds like you've got your situation all sorted and just awaiting your plan. Good position to be in! Looking forward to seeing how you get on. xxx
It's so annoying everytime they mention your cyst because it freaks you out again.. your cyst is it a endometriosis cyst or one that can rupture on its own at anytime. Yeah I figured it's a decent number but let's see what they decide to do my appoint is on 13th Feb so keen to see what there thinking n when to start. I know for definite they want n need to put a incision into it to drain before stimming. I'll definately be in touch.
Thank you for your positivity defo made me feel a little calmer x
What stage are you at? And wishing you all the best. Xxxx
I don't actually know anything about my cyst! I just wish they'd either ignore it or do something about it. Not every time I have a scan being like "hmmmm is this going to be a problem?"
My clinic is too busy (staffing shortage, I think), so pushed my treatment back a month as they couldn't fit me in. So, I have my baseline scan 26th Feb. The wait is annoying, obviously, but it is what it is. Just can't wait to get started again! It was November since my last cycle's BFN, and that seems ages ago! I'm ill this week, though, so actually glad of the extra time to get myself better.
Yeah ofcourse i bet your just so excited to get the ball rolling after all this time.. like me I'm in the same boat. But sometimes when there's delays guess it's the universe saying let your body have more time to get in the best condition to give th3 best chances.
How exciting you have your baseline scan on 26th.. do keep me updated with your journey aswel. How was your last cycle how many follicles and out of those were blastocysts.
It's frustrating when there's staffing issues.. good old NHS for you.
Yes, agree, this is hopefully the universe saying it's just not the right time yet.
Can't actually remember how many follicles I had on my fresh cycles. I got 12 eggs the first time (long protocol), but shared half with another couple, and 6 eggs the second time (short protocol). Ended up with 2 blastocysts from each.
That's such a wonderful thing you have done for someone in a similar boat.. That's so nice to hear. It's not often you hear of someone in our situation struggling and donating eggs. Just wanted to express how beautiful that is of u to do that and give someone the chance.
Was there any reason or justification as to why they think you might of got a bfn on your last round of ivf... because you have a cyst do they think that might of been the case. xx
Awww thank you Jasmeet. That's nice to hear. I actually got pregnant on that sharing round (although MMC) so definitely have no regrets sharing my precious eggs. Also, I was naive and probably had no idea what I was in for with this fertility journey! Lol. Hope it went well for the other couple.
No justification for my last BFN. They just said odds and chances, and I just need to keep trying. So, just going to keep pushing forward. If I keep on getting BFNs.... then I'll see.
Sorry to hear you mmc, and okay they didn't give no justification just of the odds. Well I hope you have been looking after yourself since last time and this period as your appointment is coming up. So exciting... I'm super excited just to hear what's to come and to get started.
Hopefully other couple are getting on well, yeah let's not even think of going down that road if u get bfns but 2020 already feels like a lucky year. 🤞 we get some strong bfp soon.. keep in touch through PM if you like xxxx
