Hello just wondering if anyone can share their IUI success story? I am particularly interested in hearing from those closer to my age (41). Is it a waste of money? Should I stick with ivf? My amh is around 15 and follicle count 16 with no other fertility issues. Any advice welcome. Thank you

IUI success stories for late 30s / over 40s?
Hey pudding- in my view IUI is a total waste of time (and money!) I’ve had 3 before going into IVF and wish I wouldn’t have waisted those 3 months! They just wash the sperm and put in in the tubes near the egg....if they meet they can maybe fertilise...but it’s a 20% chance! Nah...IVF is a much more controlled process (and anyway not enough if you ask me!)
Thanks Issy. Maybe I will change clinic instead. I feel the one I’m with is not aggressive and their approach isn’t very tailored. Almost lobster time for you. Have fun before your big day x
Usually if you’re a new patient in a clinic and they don’t know you they use a softer protocol because they don’t know how you react- but if you tell them they may adjust doses (I’ve done it and they listened to me...). I need to have high doses of hormones to grow eggs (think that with the maximum dose I only had 5 retrieved, 1 of which was immature...)
Xxx
I had 9 eggs retrieved after 8 days of menopur 225. Only 6 mature, 2 fertilised. One 5 day early blastocyst transferred and they decided that my 6 day blastocyst wasn’t good enough quality to freeze so they discarded it. Apparently because after my three csections I am not allowed to have more than one embryo transferred
Wow 3 c-sections! I didn’t know there was this rule...your protocol was very different from mine. I was on GonalF 150 + Menopur 225 for 12 days....but my 4 mature eggs all fertilised (we did ICSI) and 3 got to blastocyst. 1 I used for fresh transfer (bfn), 1 is the one I have in now and 1 in the freezer... for me it’s kind of a miracle to have gotten to this stage. The first time was a disaster I ended up from 8 eggs retrieved to 2 day 2 cells transfer...which were obviously bfn.
So great to have 2 Frosties! Three chances in total. I know I shouldn’t be greedy but I would love to have twins.
Well this one is the second frostie so...I only have one left 😱😱😱😱
One left is good news! I have started to feel some cramping eeek.
I agree with Issy. I wouldn’t waste time or money on IUI. I’m 40 and have have 4 cycles of ivf (ICSI). I have never had and eggs to freeze. I had 2 transferred on cycles 123 and 3 transferred on cycle 4. Now pregnant with a day 3!
Hi Emma thanks for your advice. I won’t consider iui anymore, it sounds like a waste of money and time. I might speak to a few more clinics and see what their views on transferring more than one embryo (my current clinic only transferred one embryo due to my three sections). Where about s are you? London? I’m in the south west and my clinic is in Bristol but am thinking of changing to a London clinic. X
My AMH much lower at 7.5 and i did get pregnant with iui at 37 however had MC. Had 2unsuccessful iuis after that. Success rates are higher with ivf
