Ok so some of you will know i had egg collection tuesday and they couldnt find an egg. The only drugs ive had were one trigger shot on sunday. Ive had ovulation cramps today so i just took a test and its positive. This is what my ov tests look like on the day or the day before i naturally ovulate. Ive had nausea today too with the cramps which is normal for me. How has this happened?? Did they just miss the egg? So confused 😳

It's really confusing how our body behaves....no clue

Im deffo ovulating i can feel it like i always do. If the trigger makes you ovulate 37 hours later then how the hell am i ovulating 3 days later? I think it didnt work and they missed the egg, unless the other follicles kept growing and ovulated maybe.

Looks like they missed your egg

You can actually call back to your clinic

A pregnancy (hCG) can be detected on an ovulation strip as well as ovulation so I presume that it would also pick up a trigger shot as this is hCG too too so I think that is probably the reason for the line on your test.xx

But that was a low dose nearly a week ago it would be out of my system now. Plus why am i getting my usual ovulation cramps and waves of nausea. I am ovulating, i just dont get whats happened xx

It does depend on the level of trigger you were given right enough but it can take a week or so. One of the reasons we are encouraged not to test early! Im unsure about your cramping, could just be a reaction to all the meds. All guess work of course, why not speak to your clinic?xx

I dont think so because it only started today and its exactly the same as every other month. I only had 4 doses of 150 menopur, last one was sunday, and cetrotide 3 times last one sunday, then trigger shot sunday. Everything low dose because they were just trying to get one egg. I understand they may still be in my system but dont understand how ive just got symptoms today? All menopur did was make my fatigue worse but when i took cetrotide it gave me my energy back. I never experienced any other side effects. I can feel the twinges in my left side, and they didnt do my left ovary at all. Im sure theres an explanation, its just so confusing this bloody process!xx

Hopefully they can give you some answers.xx

They will probably say about the trigger shot and think im imagining things i expect. But im not, the only reason i did a test was because of the cramping and nausea, otherwise ud never have even thought about it xx

Do you know what trigger shot and dose you had purplewitch?

Purplewitch18 profile image
Purplewitch18 in reply toKiboXX

Ok so just got it out the sharps it says ovitrelle 250 micrograms x

Purplewitch18 profile image
Purplewitch18 in reply toPurplewitch18

Says online it should have eliminated from the body after 30 hours apprently, does that sound right to you?

KiboXX profile image
KiboXX in reply toPurplewitch18

I’ve had Ovritelle before and the clinic advised it can stay in your system for up to 10 days I think. Everyone is different but if you did the shot on Sunday, it’s pretty likely it is that.

Do you have a pregnancy test laying around? Easy way would be to do one of those and see if it shows a positive?x

Ill have a look and see if ive got one. It says on the actual webpage for the meds 30 hours but the nurse hasnt rang yet so ill see what she says x

I’ve definitely seen posts where people use pregnancy tests to test out the trigger shot and it takes a lot longer than 30 hours. I haven’t done it personally so can’t say!

I thought it was a week to 10 days too!xx

Its just the dose maybe?

Cinderella5 profile image
Cinderella5 in reply toPurplewitch18

You could ask the clinic what and how much you were given for trigger and how long it would stay in your system....might answer a few questions.xx

I just read that what it means by leaving the body after 30 hours is that it metabolises every 30 hours or something and is usually out of your system by day 9, so it could totally be thats why the test is positive. Very strange to get the symptoms though xx

250 is the standard dose, that’s the same as what I had my first two cycles.

Definitely think a pregnancy test would hopefully solve the mystery! 🙏🏻

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣! I promise to update when ive had a wee! Wouldve been helpful if the clinic had told us about how long its in your body for, still feels like im ovulating though. Dont know how you girls have been able to go through this process multiple times, its been once and its totally done my head in! Thanks for all your help everyone, thankgod for this forum get more answers on here than at the clinic 😱

It might just be your ovary recovering from being manhandled the other day. It’s mental how much of headf*ck it all is, enough to drive anyone crazy! Hope you need a wee soon 😂🤞🏻 x

God yeh they stabbed it good! Cramps are lower tummy and twinges on my left side. Maybe its the withdrawel bleed coming early? I dont know but somethings on the move down there, ill go and drink some water 😂👍x

Right preg test shows exremely faint line, ov test strong positive. Its a sensitive preg test. 🤷‍♀️

I am confused a bit lol have you had sex since or did you have embryo transfer? Xxx

KiboXX profile image
KiboXX in reply toPurplewitch18

I would say that’s the culprit then! Trigger shot is definitely not out of your system if there is any line at all xx

Purplewitch18 profile image
Purplewitch18 in reply toKiboXX

Maybe my ovaries are pissed off and causing the ovulation symptoms 😬, next round for me will be completely natural so no trigger shot. Just sedation, lots and lots of sedation!x

KiboXX profile image
KiboXX in reply toPurplewitch18

Probably! Poor things 😂

Oh nice so at least you won’t have to go through all this again 🙌🏻 Do you know when your next try is going to be yet?x

Sorry that you have to go through the stress of all this where your tests start getting you all messed up. It’s something I would do to myself. Only explanation to me would be your egg was released early and you had sex in the time? (If they couldn’t find the egg in the day) Or your LH is high from the trigger along with it containing HCG xxx

Purplewitch18 profile image
Purplewitch18 in reply toMrsH17

Yes it could be. We did have sex 2 days before egg collection and they couldnt find an egg. My pret test should be more sensitive than my opk, so i think the extremely faint line on there is the trigger, but id expect a faint line on the opk too not a strong positive. I wish id not had these symptoms today because id never have tested otherwise xx

MrsH17 profile image
MrsH17 in reply toPurplewitch18

Maybe implantation cramping? I don’t want to get your hopes up. Maybe you could test again tomo and if it seems darker call the clinic? I think trigger was out of my system 2 days after egg collection 5days I was getting faint positives again and I know it had worked. Would be amazing if you ovulated naturally but I don’t want to get your hopes up xxx

Purplewitch18 in reply toMrsH17

No i dont think im pregnant, i was wondering how i could be ovulating naturally now after i just had egg retreival 3 days ago, and thats the confusion. Prob is just my body getting ready to have a withdrawel and trigger shot showing up, but clinc never explained anything really hence the utter shock this morning x

Ahhh okay sorry now I understand. Sorry that you had no eggs collected this time. Good luck for next time xxx

I should be able to try after this period because i was on such a mild cycle, plus i need it to try and work around half term cuz our daughter had to have the day of last egg collection off as had no one to take her to school and you dont have much notice to sort things out. It should work out alright if my bleed comes on time. Got to see what they say but i want totally natural then if that doesnt work i want a donor egg. I havent told my OH that though its going to take some convincing donor egg wise. But, also i dont know if we can afford that, so it really depends on what the clinic will do for us x
