Good donor egg cycle?

Just had our first donar egg ivf collection, 10 eggs were collected and 7 fertilised normally. How does this compare to your donor egg cycles. I’m a little disappointed as this is the exact same as my ivf cycles using my own poor eggs 😔

Hi, that's an excellent fertilisation percentage! I think they expect around 60% of eggs collected to fertilise. We got 17 eggs but only 8 fertilised. I have everything crossed for you that they continue to develop well! Good luck! Xxx

Hi Gem. That sounds like a perfect cycle to me! 7 fertilised is a good result. Hope all goes well for transfer and you can maybe get a few to store frozen. Thinking of you. Diane

All sounds ok so far! To be honest I never had a problem with fertilisation in my OE cycles....in and around 100% with ICSI, however the big difference was how many got to day 5.....that is the telling number not fertilisation. In my OE cycles we only had 2 blasts out of 6 fertilised eggs and second time 1 blast out of 7 if I remember correctly. In our DE cycles we got 6 out of 8 embryos that were top graded 5 day blastocysts. Second time we got 4 from 9 embryos that were top graded 5 day blastocysts. Hopefully your embryos will fair well.xx

Hi Gem5, its hard seeing the numbers decrease, I totally feel your pain. I don't have experience to share with a "good" donor cycle, but our first (and only so far) cycle we had 7 eggs collected and ICSI'd, 4 fertilised, 4 made it to day 3, none made it to day 5/6. I found the bit waiting from egg collection to see how many have made it to day 5 the hardest part of the journey so far.....(obviously I have not had the pain of BFNs or losing IVF babies yet which I am sure are much worse feelings!) I'd totally misjudged how challenging it would be mentally. You're not alone with these feelings - big hugs, I hope the next few days bring some good news for you xxx

Good luck with this cycle, it sounds very promising so far!

With our DE cycle we got 17 eggs and I think 9 fertilized. Unbelievably, all made it to blast! Transferred one, got pregnant, froze the rest. Now 34 weeks. 😁

So, even though we didn’t get a huge fertilization rate, the ones that did fertilize were extremely strong.
