After two unsuccessful cycles of IVF, at 43 we have decided to try IVF with an egg donor. Very new to this direction of travel but wish us luck!

Must be a big decision to make but a very rational one - good luck! The baby will get so much from your body during pregnancy and will be nurtured by you from the very start - I wish you all the luck in the world x

Thank you 😍 I'm sure the bonding process will be there (if we get that far - there are no guarantees I guess). Good luck to you on your journey too x

Oh yes the bonding and attachment will start exactly as if it was your very own egg from the start x I think it's great that this opportunity exists x

We are hoping to find a donor through private IVF. I've no idea how easy (or not) it will be. I shall let you know how we get on.

Hi boo boo! I'm on the same journey! Actually due to have transfer tomorrow of my first DE cycle, but having issues with womb lining thickness. You'll find there's a lot of ladies on here who are also using DE and there is so much support for everyone xx

Ah really!? Good luck tomorrow, I hope it goes well. Can I ask, how did you find your DE and how long did you wait? Thank you sharing

I went through manchester fertility using the access fertility package. They find and match the doners for you, and tbh my Doner could not have been more perfect, so really hoping it works! Xx

Hey Booboo10 I’ve been doing Donor ivf for over a year now,

Do you know if you want to have it done in the UK or abroad? X

I don't know. I was planning on going back to our ivf clinic and taking it from there. Not sure what to expect in terms of choice, waiting times but feeling hopeful.... How have you approached it and what would you advise? I'm all ears! X

Hey Booboo10, there are pros and cons to going abroad- cost, speed, anonymity. There are ways to split the costs too if you’re happy to egg share.

There is also a guarantee route if you use a particular clinic in London you get 50% back if you don’t have a baby.

I’m happy to share any information you would like - if you DM me I can tell you about my experience of different clinics .

Good luck with you journey xx

About to do DE as well. Very unsure about it all but it is the most rational decision I think. X

I'm 41 and 4 weeks ago my son born. He was Donor egg and sperm... Best thing I did.. Had 4 rounds with own eggs and miscarried or didn't work. They suggested DE and luckily for me worked first time. My son is my son... Don't even think about he DE.. We have such a strong bond.. He is amazing and spend hours looking at him thinking how lucky I am... Wishing you the same luck... Hope it all goes well xxxx
