Egg collection symptoms?

Hi, I've just started my second round of IVF - NHS this time and they've been great, can't sing their praises enough!

I just wondered what symptoms everyone had after egg collection? I have the worst swollen stomach, pretty hard and round like a pregnancy belly. I'm super tired, sore shoulders (might be how I sleep) and I feel nauseous all the time, really gone off my food and no appetite at all! Literally feel so full after every meal I could throw up. Same as last time.

Anyone else similar? Just looking for sympathy really!! And to know I'm not alone :)

I am not 100% about this as I have never experienced ovarian hyper-stimulation syndrome however the symptoms you are describing are like those I have been told to watch out for.

I think your best contacting your clinic out of hours line for advice or going to A&E to get checked over.

I don’t say this to worry you but just think being on the safe side is best.

My friend got OHSS and was really sick off it but a few days in hospital, plenty of fluids and rest she was back to normal and went on to have a successful pregnancy and now has a 14 month old daughter.

It might not be OHSS or it may be mild OHSS were you can rest and recover at home but if your feeling bad i feel it’s always best to get checked and give yourself piece of mind. This journey is tough enough without feeling ill as well.

I have a photo of the instructions I was given but I do not know how to upload it to show you. Do you know how I can attach the photo so you can have a look? X

Hi, I felt terrible after my egg collection this time. Swollen stomach, pain when I moved/rolled over and it felt like my bladder had shrunk- I had to make sure I was weeing regularly as if I held it too long it really hurt! Also had a fainting/nauseous spell on the evening after it was done, I jist went to bed! But these symptoms all started to disappear bit by bit each day. So long as you are getting better not worse, all should be okay I think! Xx

You poor thing, you arent alone. This has happened to me after both my egg collections. When was yours? Mine was on monday, and I the same such a bloated swollen hard tummy and really painful, all I can do is lie down.

When i eat, a couple of mouthfuls and I feel full up to my neck!!

The first cycle i did end up with moderate ohss, but I'm hoping by drinking lots resting lots and eating lots of protein i can keep it at bay this time.

I would definitely keep an eye on it or contact your clinic, with you feeling sicky too, it could be signs of ohss, but then so many people react differently to egg collection, I just know now it takes me longer to recover, whilst some can be at work the next day.

To ease your mind I would perhaps speak to the clinic if its been a while now. It should ease off hopefully. It's so horrible isn't it, sending you a hug xx
