How do you deal with the feeling before EC?

Booked in for my first egg collection on Thursday, and I'm sooo uncomfortable! At my scan yesterday morning I had 11 follicles on one side and 18 on the other, ranging from 7-25mm, which is excellent but super uncomfortable! My lining is also 31mm which apparently makes me some kind of medical marvel.

Any tips for making me feel a bit more comfortable? I am in the office today and tomorrow and I don't know how I can get through another day of being sat at a desk!

Wow! Sounds similar to me, they stopped counting at 25 on each side and told me my ovaries were rubbing together and I don’t know how but I could feel them. I couldn’t sit down properly. I can’t give you much advise apart from sitting slumped as I couldn’t sit on on my private area! I don’t know if you have the feeling of not being able to walk fully up right either??

You’ll feel better once it’s all done though, take some heat pads or if you clinic is close by take a hot water bottle as you’ll have some period type pains after.

It may take a little longer if you have lots of follicles. They had to do some digging around for my most mature follicles so I don’t know if that’s why I felt quite crampy after.

Sounds really positive though! Good luck!!! Xxx

I remember this feeling. I had loads of follicles as well and it hurt to sit down, it hurt to walk etc etc. Nobody should ever be able to feel their ovaries like that!! I just told everyone at work I’d pulled my back and just moved round really really slowly and gently 🙈 you will pleased to know it’s instant relief once the collection is done x

Thank you both! Mine is definitely higher up, I can sit fine but there doesn’t seem to be a comfortable position at all. I sat down heavily earlier and I swear I felt them bounce? Horrible feeling! Glad to hear it will pretty much go away after the collection though!

Oh yeah you absolutely can feel them move! It’s like someone has replaced your ovaries with 2 really heavy bunches of grapes. I was sitting down so so gently so they would move as little as possible. It’s ridiculous! Just play the bad back card in work and take it really really easy. Make sure you take it easy after collection as well Xx

Oh yes! This sounds familiar. Sitting or standing crouched over seemed to be most comfortable for me. Use a heat pack or hot water bottle at work for the next few days if you can. Make sure you don't get constipated! I was constipated before my egg collection and I had to come home from work because I was in agony! The ovaries take up so much room that there just isn't space for you to be constipated 😂x

Aww bless you. Only thing I can suggest is a hot water bottle - mine became my best friend and didn't go anywhere without mine 🤣

Wishing you all the very best for tomorrow x x
