FET Baseline scan 😢 feeling defeated before it's even started 💔

Had my baseline scan today and all is good to start the progynova, the nurse was really nice and explained what will happen and she said you've only got one embryo and she said it like it was a bad thing? I've only got one - I know!

Then she explained that transfer will be an afternoon either 5th or 6th December and the embryo will be transferred on the same day and they'll need to check it's still viable and my heart just sank and I even had to ask why am I going through this if we might not even have an embryo to transfer by transfer day 😭😭 we have a 3AB embryo frozen and I've had all these statistics thrown it me - 95% survive the thaw, clinic has a 60% success rate with FET's but I already feel like another round of heartbreak is on its way

And there's me a sobbing mess only to be told it's just your hormones downregulation makes you feel really low and then ushered out as there was a queue of people waiting to be seen 😭

Has anyone had good quality frozen embryos that didn't survive the thaw?

They basically said to me if they down, they usually go down a grade which from an A to a B is barley anything! Mine survived and kept its top quality grade and we're due in May 2020! Remember...it only takes ONE!!!!!! xxxx

Thank you that's reassuring 🤞 I know it would be worse if they promised that everything was all going to be ok and it wasn't and I know the staff need to give us all the facts but I'm just feeling a bit delicate and could really have done with a bit of sugar coating today 😢 xx

I've had two FETs and both my embryos survived the thaw and continued to expand before they were transferred. 95% surviving the thaw is what I was told too and that's a great statistic - it's highly likely your embryo will be fine. The best advice I can give (which is what made the difference between my BFN and BFP) is to get your progesterone levels checked the day before transfer to make sure they're over 50. When my levels were too low my (5AA) perfect embryo failed to implant, second time around the embryo was slightly lower quality but my progesterone levels were lovely and high, and it stuck and like Holly I'm due in May!

Thank you that's really helpful 😊 I asked the clinic to test my progesterone even if I paid for it and they don't offer it, just told me I get enough progesterone, if I'm given too much is have side effects 😏 need to try and find somewhere I can get my progesterone tested 😳 x

Hi I'm doing ok thanks, started the progynova last week and have a scan next Tuesday to measure my lining, were seeing the embryologist on Tuesday as well so we can ask questions

I asked about progesterone and the clinic said they do t need to test my levels I get more than enough but I'm looking into getting it from my GP instead xx

Good luck Sarah! I would recommend having this checked too. On my NHS cycles (same clinic as you) I got told I was getting plenty....I bled on all my cycles before test day. Even after telling them this they still would test. Turns out I dont absorb it very well!xx

Thanks Cinderella5 I spoke to a fertility consultant last night who used to be a fertility nurse and am going to ask if she can help support requesting my clinic testing my progesterone, I've never made it to test day with both my fresh transfers but my consultant just said it's normal as it's a result of the embryo not implanting 💔 xx

You could try asking I'd they'll test and you can pay for it?! I think that's a shit explanation if I'm honest. I got told the same and its not normal! You'll need it done day of transfer if they can get results back to you same day. That way you can up your meds. You need to aim for your levels to be around 60nmol/l minimum.xx

Thanks will give it a try, there is a clinic I can go to I'm Edinburgh to get the test but I might not get the results before transfer xx
