Delayed ivf date

So just rang to say my period started today and they tell me we will have to wait until next month to start because the lab will be closed for a week for it deep clean when the egg collection would be due. Not happy!!!

Hey hun! Maybe you should try another clinic or lab? Are you satisfied with their work to the exclusion of organizational moments? Is it your first attempt?

Yes its our first attempt. Thing is we have had our consults and amh etc done with them and dont want to pay for that again somewhere else.

I’m due to book in for my 1st cycle and I’ve a feeling this is going to happen to me next week when I get my period 😞 told me it was a possibility too!!

Fingers crossed! I dont know whether to change clinics as out intial consultation as awful too. But we have been round 2 others in bristol and didnt like them, im not sure what to do 🤔

Sorry for questioning that, but what was wrong with your initial consultation, in what clinic it took place? What clinics have you visited in Bristol?

The woman was very negative, the scan hurt and she could only find one ovary, ive had a lot of those scans and never had any problems before, she put the fear of god into my partner making out his sperm may not be up to it, its fine by the way, and kept pointing out all the things going against us, told me accupuncture was a waste of time which is her personal opinion, told me i would need all drugs at highest levels without seeing any test results and kept banging on about my age like i was 70 years old. I know you have to be real but not negative and you shouldnt dissmiss treatments you know nothing about. She didnt know what most of my suppliments were which was worrying and told me to stop taking everything, even though she didnt know what they were, had no clue about endometriosis, forgot basic height and weight checks the clinic had to ring me, and basically told us to go home and try naturally. She made us feel like ivf was a total waste of time and to not bother as we had no chance. We were told by the nhs after my lap that i can conceive but it wil be harder and to save time we shouid have ivf. And she said it all in a voice a mechanic uses before they tell you how much it is to fix your car! It was bcrm.

I know, we were so shocked by it as we saw a higher up consultant for out free one to one who was great, and actually recommended acupunture! Gave them the benefit of the doubt hoping it was just a bad experience and to not see her again but there has been other things since then and now telling us sorry the lab is closed, its really not good enough. I am waiting for a call back from care fertillity and i hope to god its better there as they offer a great package and its local xx

Hey ladies, best to check with your clinics when they are 1) shutting down for Xmas 2) when the cut off date will be for any treatments.

Mine has said they will only be closed Xmas day and Boxing Day but there will be a cut off date for transfers.

Hopefully none of us are affected 🤞but just wouldn’t want you to be disappointed again xx

I just wish they had told is this, we went to their patient evening a few weeks back and nothing got mentioned about the cut off.

That’s so frustrating. It doesn’t fill you with much hope does it. My patient coordinator was a disorganized nightmare and it really put me off but thankfully the consultants and nurses were amazing so I just dealt with the nurses instead of my coordinator 🙊xx

Ive just read about a better deal for my age as i just turned 40, 2 cycles for under £6000! So i think we may change ....

Yes i guess things do happen for a reason, since the ones we are with cant start for a month gives us chance to have a good look into it xx

Yes definitely. It really has to be the right place for you, it’s such an overwhelming process as it is so you need to be completely satisfied, especially if you’re paying! Good luck lovely, keep me posted ☺️x

Thankyou and youre so right! We thought we were in the right place but ive had second thoughts since our first proper consult, soooo i guess someone up there is telling us there is somewhere better. Ill keep you posted xx

Only the initial problem with the coordinator as she was just all over the place and I had to keep chasing her for things but I then met with a nurse and I contacted her from then on, she’s brilliant and actually the co-ordinator left anyway.

My only issue now is my cycle as I’m waiting for my period to start so I can do a frozen transfer and the later it is the more it will be heading to Xmas so I might have to wait 😩 xx

Yeah it really is. I froze embryos back in May and am so ready now the next part as the longer I wait the more I over think everything and it’s driving me a bit mad! Xx

Yep i can see why, i just got my head around starting our first round and they drop this bombshell on us. We are going to move clinics to get the better deal, i just hope its better there 🙏
