Hi everyone. I’m new to this forum. We’ve been ttc for 13 months now (I’m nearly 39, OH is 40) and have been told we should have icsi due to poor motility. We’ve decided to go with self funded treatment as the wait for NHS is unbearably long. Does anyone have any experience with GCRM in Glasgow as that is the clinic we are going with. There aren’t that many to choose from in this area! Any other words of advice appreciated before we embark on this journey!

Just wanted to say welcome! Great place for loads of support. Like you I'm nearly 39 and my oh is 41. We're also self funding (not eligible for NHS). We too have poor motility and having icsi. Currently on 2nd cycle.

Theres loads of lovely ladies on this site supporting each other through the highs and the lows. I'm in South Wales, so no idea on Scottish clinics sorry. Best advice is expect the worst, hope for the best. Take supplements if you're not already doing so. Lots recommend impryl for men. Ubiquinol, omega 3 and vit D for ladies not forgetting folic acid. Recommended for at least 3 months before treatment to improve egg quality. Amh blood test is pretty standard to check your ovarian reserve. The book it starts with the egg by Rebecca fett is also really useful. Any questions ask away, somebody usually has the answer!

Good luck on your journey x

Thanks! We’ve both been taking supplements for a while now - there are so many! I’m on pregnacare preconception and vit d. He’s on vits c and d, wellman preconception, fenugreek as well. Do we need impryl on top of that or in place of something? We’ve also both gone low gluten which was something recommended by our reflexologist.

Tbh I've been on all the supplements going and it made no difference whatsoever. For some it does have a huge impact but for me zilch. Having said that, I did a different protocol this time which yielded worse results. So that could be the reason I saw no benefit.

The Mediterranean diet seems to be recommended. High in oily fish, olive oil, wholegrains, legumes, veg and fruit mostly. I think it's because of the omega 3 in it among other vits.

I'm certainly no expert but after 2 cycles have picked stuff up along the way x
