Hi Purplewitch. I would check with your specialist/GP before going ahead with the DHEA, as it can upset hormone related conditions. Good luck with whatever you decide. Diane

Hi Daine, my clinic dont seem up on the suppliments even told me not to bother with ubiqinol and they didnt know what maca was. I think im going to leave the dhea and just stick with ubiquinol and royal jelly/ bee pollen/ propolis and maca and flaxseed as these all help with endo and egg quality.

Last thing i want to do is make matters worse.

Thanks for replying Diane. I am taking loads yes! But all of those are full of nutrients so im not worried about any of those. Dhea sounds very scary!

Hi. Yes,I agree. DHEA is a form of steroid, so I always recommend it to be prescribed by a doctor. Diane

Do you have low ovarian reserve? This is probably the only indication to take DHEA. I would recommend getting the book ‘It starts with the egg’, it has a section on DHEA and endometriosis in the DHEA chapter and does say that DHEA could theoretically worsen endo due to production of hormones while taking DHEA. However there are two case reports mentioned of women who had endo AND low ovarian reserve (low AMH + low antral follicle count) who had improved AMH and number of eggs retrieved after taking DHEA for 3 months. Both cases supplemented with other things as well as DHEA do worth bearing in mind that it can’t be definitely said the improve my was due to the DHEA alone. In America, where DHEA is used a lot more, blood levels if DHEA-S and testosterone are monitored, but this doesn’t seem to be done here in the UK. Though I wonder with having endo as well that too high testosterone may effect your endo deleteriously??

I hope this helps a bit...

Hi, thankyou for you reply. Yes i have low reserve and amh as im 40 aswel as having endo. It is supposed to make it worse because it increases eastrogen which feeds endo, and the fact i would be self medicating and not monitered is too risky i think. I will get the book though, ive seen lots on it. Im already toxin free and dont go near bpa as ive read is in the book also, it will be an interesting read.

Really tricky one, I guess you could always have your bloods run and then rechecked through medichecks - you would run DHEA-S and testosterone. The book has target blood levels for these....

Id have to pay for the extra bloodtests though unfortunately. The only thing i was ever told to try was proceed women. It gave me really wierd side effects and was really expensive. I looked up the ingredients and the main one was q10 any way
