Feeling low today

Hi all

Hope you’re all okay and having a good week. Almost the weekend!

I have had a really stressful, difficult day at work today and feeling quite low this evening. I am waiting to see an Endocrinologist as my thyroid has now become over active (TSH O.01) after being under active (TSH 3.89) for a while and treated with Levothyroxine. My appointment is next Tuesday but it can’t come soon enough as I have felt rotten the last couple of weeks as I feel so exhausted.

I can’t start treatment until my TSH is back in normal levels. Has anyone else experienced this and how long did it take to get back to normal levels?

I so want to start our next round of treatment but can’t until this is sorted.

Found out a few colleagues/friends are pregnant this week so after a week of feeling much more like myself I feel pants again!

Thanks for any advice you can share or support. Just needed to share with you all as I know you will understand how I feel. xxx 🌈🍍🍀

Hey lovely, very strange you're feeling exhausted while over treated on thyroxine! Usually if you're overactive you feel anxious, jittery etc. Has your clinic said they won't treat with levels at 0.01? How much thyroxine are you taking? Sorry that's a lot of questions 😂 Once you get the correct dose of thyroxine you'll find your levels will even out fairly quickly x

Hi Kit Cat. Thanks for your reply. I was told to stop taking thyroxine about six weeks ago when my TSH dropped to 0.02 but unfortunately it has dropped further since then. I was on 50mg a day. Hoping the endo specialist can help next week. Yes had anxiety and jitteryness too as well as palpitations- joy! Apparently it can cause fatigue/weakness too. Hopefully my levels will get sorted soon. 🤞xx

Oh bless you! What a pain. It sounds like you definitely need the specialist's help. It's horrible when your levels are all over the place. Sorry I can't be more helpful x

Aww thank you for your message. I had to leave work early today because I felt so rotten. Luckily I have a very understanding boss! My appointment next week can’t come sooner enough! Hope you’re doing well and your pregnancy is going well so far. Xx

Mine dropped low and I felt really awful. TSH was 4.9, starting off taking 75mg daily. That’s when it went really low, then I took alternate days 50/75mg, it went back up to 0.2. Now I’m on 50mg and it’s 0.9. Think it still fluctuates though.

The NHS alway say it takes 3 months for levels to change but it doesn’t. I’ve changed my dose and had a private blood test the following week, and it’s changed.

Hope you’re feeling better soon x

Thanks so much for replying and sorry you have had to go through this too. It really makes you feel awful doesn’t it?! I have had a low TSH since late August but the last week or so I felt really awful. So looking forward to seeing a specialist to get it sorted next week! I had to come home from work today because I felt so rotten. Glad to hear you’re is improving. How are you feeling at the moment? xx

So sorry to hear that, I think it’s incredible anyone carries on with normal life and jobs through all of it.

I just found out yesterday from pharmacist that you can get 12.5mcg Levothyroxine tablets so you could try 37.5mcg (did I add that up correctly)? I recently went up to 125mcg and it took 6 weeks before I could test again- that’s the shortest you can retest in. Slightly worried I’m a bit over medicated too as I’m at TSH 0.3 but have had a few heart palpitations- going to look into dropping by 12.5mcg with Dr next week.

Best wishes to you, it is so hard having to wait for things to even out.

Hello, thank you for your reply. How are you? Sorry to hear you have had to take Levothyroxine too. I didn’t know you could get half doses, thanks for sharing that. I was told to stop taking Levothyroxine about six weeks so I’m not on any treatment at the moment but hoping when I see the specialist next week they can recommend something. 🤞xx
