Uterine Scratch?

Has anyone had any experience, or know someone who did a uterine scratch and if it was helpful? My Dr has recommended it to us, since our first FET was unsuccessful. It just delays our process by a month or so. Please let me know your thoughts!

Hi dear

Saw your messages

Regarding your uterine scratch I have never done it during ivf but it is mostly done to improve receptivity to embryo sooo I have seen many frens of mine doing that got bfp....

So all the best and all will work in your favour

Hi cab. You could have a look at the HFEA guidelines re this on their website. hfea.gov.uk

Having the scratch done before a cycle apparently can aid implantation with the healing process. You could also ask about using low dose soluble aspirin or heparin, to ensure good blood flow to the womb lining and help to prevent clot formation. See what your specialist says. Good luck! Diane

I have had two failed FETs so I have a scratch booked at the end of the month for my next attempt at IVF. I’m not too keen on having it done and am pretty nervous about it but this is our last NHS shot so we are just throwing everything at it that we can!

I’m in the same boat as you. I was thinking about trying the scratch on our last attempt. I’m sorry if this is personal and please don’t answer if you don’t want to. But we are also on NHS, is the scratch part of your funding or is that something we pay for? I feel cheeky asking our clinic as we have been funded for so much and don’t want to sound like I expect more for free.

Hey not cheeky at all and sorry you are in the same boat. We have paid £250 for the scratch which included another chlamydia test also. We also paid for an enhanced semen analysis which cost about £600 which revealed a few things that the basic semen analysis doesn’t so we are having ICSI this time which will be funded based on the results. I feel like we just have to throw everything at this last go. It’s so frustrating though because we still have 3 embryos in the freezer and last time we did IVF I ended up with bad OHSS so I’m not convinced I’ll make it to transfer anyway for the scratch to do anything. But have to hope!

Thanks for your reply 😊. That’s not to bad, I hope this next cycle is successful for you. We only have one embryo left but 2 cycles available on the NHS so I doubt they will pay to go through egg collection again so fingers crossed this next cycle works. They won’t need to boost your follicles again will they? can you still get OHSS with a FET transfer?

In our area we are entitled to two IVF and two FET. I’ve had one IVF where I got OHSS and had a freeze all and have had 2 failed FETs. They won’t fund to try having my frozen embryos transferred so I have to do egg collection again. I’m trying to be positive about it and really hope this is our turn. They are monitoring me much closer this time so hopefully I won’t get OHSS again!! When are you going for your next FET?

Oh no. You poor thing. The egg collection part was so hard, I hope this time it works out for you. Fingers crossed x

I can’t complain as we are so lucky to have the opportunity to have another go when many areas don’t get anywhere near as much funding but I still really wish we didn’t have to take them up on the offer!! Good luck with your FET and whatever you decide with your scratch.

Hi, I ’ve just finished my second FET. I opted for the endometrial scratch and embryo glue and got my first BFP Tuesday this week. I’m a firm believer having this done helped.

I also took low dose aspirin xx

My first IVF round failed had implantation failure without the scratch. We changed clinics and insisted on scratch even though the study in NZ has showed there is no difference in odds. We had 3 embryos, first Fresh transfer with scratch - successful pregnancy. 2nd FET for sibling we followed exact same process as the first even though the odds were against us and success again with both scratches! Now due in 12 weeks with number 2. Like I said the stats are either way, but worked a treat for us. Good luck and warning may want to take Panadol before scratch. It hurts

I’ve not had it myself yet but my Consultant mentioned there is currently lots of research going on into the benefits of it so I’m trying to decide whether to do it for our next FET. Good luck! xx

I'm on cycle 2 and had it done just 2.5 weeks ago. My clinic keep saying no evidence to prove it works and kept discouraging me but ive had it done anyway given that my first amazing embryo failed. At this point I'll give anything a go x

We didn’t have one. The consultant said there was no need for it I went through though 2 ivf cycles. Not sure if it’s specially if embryos don’t stick? Xx
