So we have our follow up appointment in a few weeks and I’m thinking about asking about the scratch, I know they offer it for £250. Just wanted to ask if anyone has had success or not with the scratch, how much does it hurt and at what point in your cycle does it have to happen? Would love to book a holiday this Summer so trying to think through dates.

It’s an Amber with HFEA, have a read lovely. I didn’t have it with either of my IVF goes so can’t comment on it being effective or sore sorry, one failed with private clinic and 1 success with NHS clinic. Luck of the draw I feel.
Best of luck lovely and keep us updated.
A friend of mine swears by the scratch. She had a few failed teenagers and says the one that stuck was after having the scratch. Is there any harm in doing it? If not and if you're happy to pay the money then I'd go for it. You've thrown everything at it and won't need to wonder what if. Blastocysts that have been PGS tested also give s better chance add you can eliminate chromosomal abnormalities as a reason for failure.best of luck
Hi, no success stories yet but I had the scratch this time prior to my FET which I started last Friday. Although its amber on the HFEA website I've heard quite a lot of positive stories and seen some good data so I was convinced to try it. Cost £150 at my clinic. It's quite like a smear test but just lasts a little bit longer as they scrape more areas. I found it quite uncomfortable but it didnt last long at all and had no problems afterwards. I had to do it around 21 day of my cycle (there is some flexibility with the day) and then started short protocol on day 1 of my next cycle. All the best for your appointment and cycle ahead x
Hi there, unfortunately it didn’t work for me. I had a positive when I didn’t have a scratch but unfortunately had a miscarriage. I don’t think that I would bother having one again. However, it is relatively cheap (in the land of IVF!) and worth a shot if you haven’t previously had one. It’s abit uncomfortable, however is really quick 💕 xx
My first 2 cycles failed with top grade embryos but my 3rd cycle worked and I had the scratch. But I changed a few things so I can’t be sure what (if anything) was the reason for success. I heard other people swear by it and I was prepared to try everything! X
My first 3 transfers have failed with apparently top grade embryos, do you mind me asking what else you changed?xx
I put 2 embyros back (only one stuck), I had extra progesterone (lubion as well as pessaries) and clexane injections. Who knows what did it this time but something worked!
What are cleaner injections for? Did you have any extra tests? Sorry for all the questions!xx
Hi, I had a scratch at a private clinic, no pain as anaesthetic was used. I had a positive, not sure I could attribute the pregnancy to the scratch, but decided to throw everything at my first round. Good luck xx
Ive had 3 scratches in total, I didnt have any success and it was under trial at the time so wanted to give it a shot as early data was promising from sheffield....Im not sure what the full outcome was. However I didnt have success and the two pregnancies that Ive had (no live birth yet) I did not have scratches done. Good luck with your decision!xx
I had the scratch before my FET, on day 22 of the previous cycle. The pain was at the level of having a period, but for just 15 seconds. Now I'm 36 weeks pregnant
I only had another positive test, without scratch, but sadly it was an ectopic pregnancy...
Good luck!
Hi, I had 2 failed transfers without scratch, then 3 failed transfers with scratch, then one implanted with scratch but miscarried, and my latest one has implanted with scratch - but can’t say whether it was down to the scratch or not as it failed a lot with and without it?! You have it done in the cycle before ivf in a window of a week. I went private for mine at a cost of £160 at a hospital as it was cheaper than at my clinic. The pain is just like period cramps for me - nothing too bad x
Thanks for the reply, interesting that it’s cheaper at another hospital, what did your clinic think about you having it done at another hospital?xx
They didn’t mind at all, they totally understood that I would want to save money where I could and always let me know the dates in which I needed to book it. Infact originally it was one of my clinic’s own doctor’s that was doing it privately for cheaper! But then he stopped doing private work and a different private doctor took over from doing the scratch on the understanding that she would keep the price the same 👍
I’ve never had one but am looking into it too. My clinic doesn’t offer them so I’d have to go somewhere else and I’m not sure how easily it would fit in timing wise.
Plus I’m scared of pain! 😂😬 Good luck with your follow up lovely - let me know if you do decide to go for the scratch! X
