So, im trying to research this a little so i can make an informed decision and only take what im comfortable with, but i really cant find many answers. Ive already been told i dont need clomid, and my cycles are regular, literally like clockwork, so which drugs in your opinion do you think ill really have to take? I know it will also depend on my test results, but as there is no problem with ovulation or my cycle, and because i have my endometriosis under control i really dont want to mess up my hormones.

Which drugs are the essential ones?

Hi lovely, if you're doing ivf you'll likely have to take some drugs. There are so many options only your clinic can really tell you what you'll be on, what dose and how long for. There are options for milder cycles etc which im afraid I know nothing about. I would speak to your clinic. Best of luck! Xx
Are you having IVF or IUI, or you still at the stage where you are waiting on all the test results in which case it really is far too early probably to be trying to guess at what drugs might be used. Even when you knows your results, it’s really difficult to research what drugs you might need as there are many different drug combinations within the different protocols. You can’t unfortunately use the fact that you cycle regularly to make any assumptions about what the issue might be and what they might use. I am as regular as clockwork but was advised to have IVF due to low AMH. I didn’t know my protocol until right when I was starting. I work in a medical role but even then I found it difficult to read up to understand exactly why I was on the drugs I was on, even asking my doctor the answer was not clear. Assisted reproduction isn’t an exact science at all, it’s all a bit of an experimentation and trial and error. Each clinic will have different protocols they prefer for different situations, but then it can be individual how people respond and so the result at egg collection and transfer can be different to expectations. I have found the lack of knowledge and understanding in all this quite difficult but am having to accept that it’s the nature of the beast. Once you know some results and know about more about what they want to use you can always do a search on this forum, it’s hat I did.

Thankyou for you answers, we are starting ivf on my next cycle so this time next month. My problems are my fallopian tubes are too sluggish to get the eggs out, and because i just turned 40 we have been told ivf to save time. So as i dont need clomid im thinking the drugs to stimulate my ovaries for sure, ive had my amh done but dont know the results yet. Its just i know a lot of people have to supress their cycle with bc before stim and i dont want that. Bc pills mess me up, so i know i need some drugs with ivf but want to keep it as minimal as possible. We wont have our next appointment now untill we start next month, so i just wanted some other accounts to get a rough idea of what might happen x
Hello
Well I’ll speak in generalities as each clinic has their own specific protocols and requirements. Generally they only do short protocol (no down regulation) when you have low AMH or are at really high risk of OHSS such as PCOS. Otherwise they tend to do down regulation as standard I think. I’m sure if you speak to the clinic regarding your worries around your endometriosis they will take it into account. I know I was given an option around some of the drugs in my protocol.
Good luck!

I’ve got low AMH and diminished ovarian reserve. They did short protocol with me so they didn’t down regulate my cycle so no birth control. I had menopur to stimulate my ovaries and then another drug (can’t remember name) from about day 6 to stop me from ovulating naturally. Also 10 days of antibiotics from day 6. 36 hours before egg retrieval I had a trigger shot to make my eggs mature. After retrieval, progesterone pessaries 3 times a day.
I think it really does depend on the individual though and your test results as to what they will give you.
Hope this helps xx
