Gonal or Menopur? Which did you have more success with?

Dear all,

I am deciding between two clinics - one doctor recommends Gonal only, the other recommends Menopur only.

I am 36 years old. I have a good egg reserve (14 eggs per cycle) but 50% eggs are always immature.

Anyone in the same position? Have you had more success with Gonal or Menopur?

What have you tried before? I respond more to Gonal F but I’ve always had good quality with Menopur (although last time I had 50% immature on Menopur). If I have to do another fresh cycle I’ll probably ask them about whether to do a mix of Gonal F and Menopur xx

My last two cycles were a mix - high doses, which they think over stimulated my eggs and caused a problem with quality.

Did you have better quality with Menopur? Xx

I only used Gonal F to thicken my lining on a FET but my follicles went nuts so I didn’t have an EC so I don’t know the quality but I know it made them grow a lot. With my fresh cycles I was on Menopur and my embryos were always top quality which suggests good egg quality. I was 31 on my last fresh cycle though so I’m not sure how much was the choice of drug and how much was age. I have read that Menopur often seems better for quality though xx

My eggs responded much better to Menopur than Gonal F. The quality seemed better. On my first two rounds I had a lot of immature eggs (first roun gonal, second and third menopur). On my last round they stimmed me longer, on a higher dose and did a 38 hour trigger shot. It made such a difference (double the amount of eggs and much better quality and maturity as the follicles were all much bigger). Good luck with it. xx
