I’m just starting to do my research for FET.
The question is one blastocyst or two...we have the option but see conflicting stories of which is best.
If you have the luxury of having the choice, what would you choose? And why? And for those that had successful FET what did you go for?
So hard to know, but I’m leaning towards having two 5 day blastocysts transferred next week.
Any advice appreciated.

We had 1 transferred on our first cycle, and asked for 2 the next but got told no. I was (am) 37 for both, and both were FETs with good quality embryos so they were reluctant to go for 2.
Recently had the planning meeting for our 3rd FET and were told the only thing they can do to improve our odds is to transfer 2 which I’m happy to go for.
I’m going in to it thinking that we’ll be lucky if 1 sticks, but also that if by some miracle both did, I’m equally happy with that. I think it’s all about weighing up the risks vs time left for us! We’re very lucky to have started with 11 Frosties, and our doctor said that statistically if we were to do 11 single transfers, we’d have better odds of a live birth (they use such charming terms hey?) than if we did 5 or 6 multiples. But seriously, I cannot do it mentally or physically so I’m going for a double. Good luck whatever you decide xx
Thank you, I’ve just turned 35 and we have 5 in freeze, so I was a little surprised we are offered the option on our first frozen transfer but I am like you, I feel like twins is scary but I’d still prefer that to none so it has to be worth a try hasn’t it!
They have checked my suitability as far as looking at my cervix on scans and doctor has approved us if it is what we want, but obviously always given the option to go for one if it’s too daunting.
But I think it’s time to just go for it.

Hi there, good to know that you're scheduled for FET next week. As per me that's getting one step closer to success... have to be optimistic no matter what. I need to ask first how old are you? Back to your question, technically all it takes is a viable an a bit of luck to get it to stick and get to a full gestation. However, doing 2 transfers especially 5day embryo improves the chance of success. I would go with the same option you're inclined too. Many study suggests at least one of them sticks and get through. That's somehow cause the two embryos trigger better stability and hormone levels. Usually twin transfer is okat after 35 as the clinics think there is a higher chance of twin implantation before that. But then you should be prepared mentally for twins as well if you're up for twin FET.
Hey, we were recommended to go with double blast transfer. We transferred 2 top quality day 5 blastocysts and I'm currently 21 weeks pregnant with a little boy. I think if you have the option to transfer 2 then go for it, as long as you feel ok with the prospect of twins.
Hey lovely... just wanted to add that I was offered to transfer 2 which I did. However one stuck and I got my bfp.... who knows if it would have been the same outcome if I’d only had the 1 transfer. Do what’s best for you but if I go through this process again I would definitely go for 2. Good luck and throwing lots of baby dust your way 😘😘❤️
We’re going to transfer 2 next cycle. I’m petite and the thought of twins is a bit daunting for my body but our doctor said there is a higher chance of 1 sticking so we’ll go for it. It just makes sense to me to try and increase the odds as much as possible. Good luck! Xx

Doing 2 transfers especially 5day embryo improves the chance of success. I did that for FET#2 and i'm almost 19 weeks pregnant with twins.
For my fresh transfer clinic wouldn't allowed 2. We transfered 1 and it ended up being an ectopic.
For FET#1 we were given the choice but decided to transfer only 1 embryo cause my husband was to scared of the idea of having twins. I miscarried at 6 weeks.
So for FET#2 we didn't hesitate to trasnfer 2 embryos and we're very happy with the idea of having 2 little boys.
You should be prepared mentally for twins as well for other complications. I'm taking levothiroxine to support my thiroid, cause my twin pregnancy caused a mild hypothyroidism.
I spend also my first months of pregnancy having spottinh and bleeding. We found out that one of placentas was lying low which caused the bleeding.
I had to rest a lot but now everything seems fine and I'm enjoying my pregnancy!
