Taking Clomid?

Does anyone have any experience of taking clomid? I’m on my first try at 50mg as I haven’t ovulated in over 6 months of coming off the pill.

I took my last tablet 7 days ago and have been having slight tummy maybe period pains the last couple of days. I also have had more egg white looking mucus the last couple of days too. However I’ve done a few LH tests and they’ve come up negative.

I’d be interested to know if these are normal side effects or could be signs I’m due to ovulate. The clinic didn’t really give me much of an idea how long it would take after the tablets but I’ve seen online that it’s probably 5-10 days after the last one.

Thank you if you can offer any help xx

Yes I took clomid for ovulation induction and it sounds like perfectly normal symptoms when it’s working. The tummy pains are probably from your follicles growing - I started to feel like this with mucus about 5 days before ovulation on clomid. Best of luck!

I tried 50mg but it didn’t work for me. I had to move to 100mg. Hopefully they will be doing progesterone test on you? I ovulate around 12 days after my last tablet every time so take the time scales with a pinch of salt and just keep on with the opks

Thank you that’s useful to know I will keep trying the opks and see what happens even past the 10 days then. I have a Blood test in a week or so and I think that’s for the progesterone xx

Hello. I was on clomid for 4 cycles. The only real side effect I had was hot flushes, they were continuous but worth it in the end. I have PCOS and for some reason my body didn't react to clomid the same on each cycle. The folliciles would grow but they would just keep growing until I had to then have an injection each cycle to ovulate. I'm not sure how much your clinic will be monitoring you after the last tablet but I think your research of 5-10 days after is correct. I hope this helps x

Thank you that’s really helpful, I have a blood test in a week or so and a scan a week after that to monitor it so will see how that goes. I’ve had a bit of hot flushes too so good to know that’s normal! Xx

That's good that you will have a blood test and a scan. It may take a couple of months for them to adjust the dosage so that it's right for you, they had to do that for me too. Happy to help if you have any further questions. Good luck x
