I am 42 years old and got married at age 39. Diagnosis: Unexplained fertility. Have had two ectopic pregnancies and two failed IVF rounds (one fresh and one frozen) and am seeing the senior consultant next week. I read on an NHS pamphlet ' the chance of conception with each IVF cycle up to 3 is approximately the same. The chance of success after this is lower'. What does this mean? Asking as wondering whether to give IVF a third shot.

I read that 3 rounds slightly increases your chances. My consultant told us after 3 the chances go down slightly.
I guess it's a matter of how long you feel you can keep going, and how much you can afford. It's such a hard slog physically and emotionally. We had decided we'd probably draw the line at 4 but then were really fortunate to fall pregnant on the 3rd. I was 40 and I think around 40+ your egg quality is much lower so it's hard to find a chromosomally normal egg. But it can and does happen. A woman at work is 43 and pregnant with IVF twins after 4 rounds. Good luck hon xx
I’m now 40 amd have just finished our 4th cycle and it was our best ever cycle! More eggs, far better quality and even a BFP! My advice is don’t give up!!! Good luck xx
