Hi Slupton. Both of our FET’s were without down reg. We did a natural FET both times so we didn’t take any medication before our transfer. Just progesterone after xx

I didn't downreg for stims or FET :)

For the FET I just started taking estradiol on day 2 of my cycle and added in progesterone around day 10, after a lining scan. Best of luck with it xxx

I’m not having FET but a donor egg cycle my clinic asked me to go straight into Estradiol tablets and then i’ll add in progesterone nearer to transfer. I did question them about it but apart from they didn’t think it was necessary but didn’t give me the reason. I have down regged on every other cycle I’ve had. Some women have said its better as there’s less interference. Down regging is like slamming the breaks on your hormones and then revving your system up with Estradiol and progesterone so it might not suit everyone. Good luck.

Your protocol is the same as mine! I'll be starting mine soon will you? Xxxx

I’ve started my cycle so have been taking Progynova 2mg x 3 times a day for about 10 days and having lining check scan tomorrow. Apart from feeling a bit more emotional than usual I’ve been fine.

I can see from your profile you have severe endometriosis and have had large cysts in the past. Me too I've got a couple of cysts now and I've got a scan Monday to have them checked before starting. Story of my infertility life all over again 🤯 xxx

A fellow endo warrior. Tell me about it! I had surgery last August and the cysts are already back. Despite my endo being so severe I don’t suffer from any pain so I never even realised I was infertile until I was 38. IVF is the hardest thing I’ve ever done by far. Fingers crossed for us xxx

It really is and it seems so unfair. I'm feeling very hopeful for us this time ❤ we can do this xxxxx

I had FET with down regulation and asked to do it without and havent looked back. It's much easier on the body. I took progynova to help increase my lining then add in progesterone before embryo transfer. If you've got any questions then I'm happy to help!xx

Thank you so much. I've had 4 transfers and only one was successful many years ago. The last 3 my body hasnt responded well to the medication. It takes me longer to down reg each time and I seem to be on the medication at least 8 weeks! It's taken such a toll on my body physically and emotionally and I'm looking forward to a much less stressful protocol (hopefully) with a happy ending. I'm using my last 2 frozen embryos 😖 xxx

I feel really unwell on the down regulation meds so its a blessing to be able to not take those meds and a lot quicker. Best of luck.xx

I didn't down reg for mine, but i was on cetrotide from day 2 to day 7 just to make sure I didn't ovulate unexpectedly. I was also on estradiol patches from day 2, added progynova at day 10, started cyclogest I think about day 15, 5 days before transfer. All worked for me 🙂

Yep I’ve done both - much preferred the one with no down regulation!

Good luck x

Great thank you so much! 😘😘

I’ve done both!

Down reg was negative and natural FET resulted in a BFP.

I just had 2 scans to track ovulation, 1 trigger shot to bring on ovulation and 1 on day of transfer to increase natural progesterone.

They also recommended Lubion progesterone injections which I thought why not!

I’m all for natural FET if you can!

Good luck x

I had a natural cycle FET with no down reg. I was scanned around the expected time of my LH surge and once it was detected I had my FET 5 days later. I was not given ANY medication whatsoever including no progesterone. This also meant that I could be confident that any symptom I got was not as a result of any meds. Got my BFP during that cycle.

I would always recommend a natural FET cycle over a medicated cycle if faced with the two option because your body is allowed to prepare itself naturally and so is likely to be much more receptive to an embryo transfer.

My first fresh cycle involved injections etc and I believe the meds and procedure really placed a lot of trauma on my body. I also believe that it manipulated my body so far from its natural cycle (I have very regular periods) that it then failed to respond. My first transfer was unsuccessful. Good luck whatever you decide...x

That's so good to hear thank you. I completely agree my last three cycles wasnt successful for different reasons and I hated the way the medication made me feel. I'm really hopeful this time. Thanks for your reply and congratulations on your BFP ❤

my first and only FET so far had no down reg xo

slupton profile image
slupton in reply to aamiller405

Do you mind me asking how it went? I believe the process from start to finish is only around 3 weeks? Xx

aamiller405 profile image

there are different protocols but I started prognova tablets on day 2 of my cycle.. then had a scan of my lining on I believe day 10, was then told to start crinone pessaries 2 days later twice daily alongside the tablets for 6 more days and then went in for my transfer. our cycle ended in a BFP, weve since had an early loss but that was due to no fault of the cycle itself, it was all pretty quick and so much easier on the body than a fresh cycle xo

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, I've been there twice and I know how heartbreaking it is. It does get easier as time goes by after my first loss I thought I would never be happy again but I am maybe not as happy as I was before but there is a life to live as so many of my not so helpful family tell me.. alot. Thanks so much for your reply it's very helpful thank you ❤😘😘

My successful FET was without a down reg. I had a natural cycle FET so just notified my clinic on the day my period started and then they checked my lining once just a few days before the transfer. I did have a trigger shot though, to get rid of any eggs released that month.

It was a lot less stressful than a fresh or medicated transfer, and my body was able to build a much better lining. Plus it gave me my LO so it was well worth it :)

That's so good to hear thank you! I'm actually looking forward to this treatment the last 3 have been so stressful. Congratulations on your little one ❤

Yes, hopefully you'll find it a lot less stressful, which can only help. I was a lot more emotional though.... but maybe that's because it was our last embryo so a lot was at stake. Wishing you the best of luck!
