*Possibly sensitive* questions about early pregnancy

Sorry, me again 🙄 I just have a couple of questions...

1. What should you avoid in early pregnancy?

I know about coffee, soft cheese etc but wondered if you were given any advice by your clinic? Last time the nurse said not to do anything that might cause uterine contractions...I think she meant sex? I’ve never felt less sexy than when experiencing cyclogest side effects 😂 This time a different nurse didn’t say anything and I forgot to ask.

2. What can/should you do in early pregnancy? Or any ideas to pass the time until my scan? I’m a teacher so not at work and think I might go a little crazy 🥴

Thank you for all your support 😊xx

Snap!!! I’m not eating any soft uncooked cheese, I don’t drink any tea or coffee anyway, no medium to rare steak, uncooked prawns, patè. Google it loads comes up hun. There’s no specific diet plan it’s hard to know. I love pepperamis lol but can’t eat them as there’s rules on some processed meats.

Weird as it sounds my husband doesn’t want to have sex until he knows it’s “safe” following advice from fertility at our scan next week. He’s a worrier. I literally am not allowed to move a muscle I’m already wrapped up in cotton wool !

How are you feeling??? I started feeling sick past two mornings (approx 6 weeks????) and extreme like actual exhaustion 😂 I am so drained especially in the mornings it’s crazy lol. All worth it for our beautiful babies.

Well I’m vegetarian which means I don’t have to worry about a lot of those things but the cheese thing is annoying!

As for side effects I’m only 5 weeks today but have really sore boobs and am constipated 😟 I don’t feel as tired as last time but then maybe that was the cyclogest. I felt sick all day Wednesday which is what made me take a test but have mostly felt ok since.

My husband is on high alert too, every time I say or do anything different he asks if I’m ok 😂 I just wish I knew if it will all work out this time, I’m terrified something will go wrong...

I know I totally feel the same. Any little twinge or tmi every time I go the toilet I’m scared. I just want it to be ok. I had my 5 day transfer on 20th July and EC on 15th July. I thought it worked out that I was 4 weeks and a few days but I didn’t know you added 2.5 weeks on. I had scan this week early and was at 5+ weeks on ivf calendar I’m 6 weeks 3 days. When did you have your transfer? X x

We didn’t! We were due to begin ivf in September when this happened naturally. 4.5 years and 6 iui cycles and then I get pregnant naturally - I really can’t get my head round it!

Hey congratulations, the rules are simple really, no smoking/drinking, eat balances diet and avoid certain food, drink plenty of water!!

Continue with your vitamins, if you feel like it stay active, best is gentle walking at this stage

Avoid hot baths

Rest whenever your body will tell you, if you need a nap take a nap

For relaxation I totally recommend watching Netflix and..Mindful IVF free app.

😀😀😀😘

Thank you xxx

Hi.

First of all congratulations on your pregnancy wonderful news.

You need to avoid blue cheese, soft cheese with white rinds, raw or uncooked eggs, homemade mayonnaise but shop brought is okay, no more than 140 grams of tuna, no more than 200 mg of caffeine.

You can find more information at nhs.uk>foodstoavoidinpregnancy.

I was advised to continue taking a pregnancy supplement as well you should be taking folic acid daily until 12 weeks.

Gentle exercise such as walking & swimming are fine my midwife recommended those to me.

Early pregnancy is very tiring so rest as much as you can & if possible have a nap in the day!

All the best with your pregnancy ❤️xoxo

Thank you 🙂 Think the tiredness is kicking in today! I just wish I could relax. Every little twinge is making me panic 😟

There’s not really loads to avoid you can still eat cheese just not unpasteurised like Brie and Camembert still can have cream cheese like Philadelphia or hard cheeses or mozzarella.

Just do what you’d normally do as long as it’s not strenuous you can carry on with exercise if you want or change it to lighter version to normal. Read, cinema, eat out, shopping, google nursery ideas lol

Thank you! Ha ha! I’m not quite ready for nursery ideas as I’m petrified it will go wrong again. I’m completely not superstitious but being pregnant is making me crazy 🥴

Have a look on NHS choices. It clearly lists all the foods to avoid during pregnancy.

Hope you have a good 9 months!

It's a nerve wracking time. Just eat things you know are safe if it helps yoir anxiety levels. Like fruit and veg. Good luck!
