So the 9 embryos from our third donor didn't make it and I was told they were very low quality 😔 The donor has proven fertility several times over.
They think it is possibly a sperm issue now and have suggested my OH have DFI DNA Fragmentation Index tested and the FISH test. Not really sure the difference between these?? Anyone had these tests?
I have completed gone to pieces today and ended up really struggling in a home visit, having to cut it short. My head is just not in work and I am struggling to deal with it as my mind is trying to process IVF, failed cycles and now the possibility that my OH's sperm could be an issue. I've been at my limit today and really hope it gets better.
I never thought it would be this hard, especially when we moved onto donor eggs, but I suppose it's not guaranteed even then.
Positive stories anyone? Xxx

I was going to respond to your other post tonight...sorry you are going through this.
My initial gyne investigations, the consultant concentrated on me and not hubby, even though looking back his count showed as low sometimes.
When we got referred for ivf, the clinic whilst talking about my results, mentioned do matter of fact hubby’s count being low, which hadn’t been highlighted to us before and was skirted over by saying ICSI gets past most issues
We had rounds with my eggs, miscarriages, poor fertilisation rates, recurrent miscarriage tests, but it took for us to eventually say what are the realistic chances to move forward.
We opted for donor eggs on what they said, but also asked the gp to refer hubby to an andrology specialist for further checks. They did and he had a sperm culture, sperm count/analysis and a scan.
Again, they said some number were lower, but nothing they would be worried about.
When we went to the DE clinic, they did the normal sperm test, but also a sperm comet dna test.
The results showed a significantly increased fragmentation. Recommended to take male fertility vitamins for at least 2-3 months before treatment.
Added that hopefully with the ICSI process this would reduce the fragmentation effect.
I had my own egg, low AMH, Endo issues, so didn’t really know if there was one specific reason/cause.
With DE round:
11 eggs collected
3 fertilised
1 transferred
0 to freeze
I think it’s worth seeing what you can get via a gp referral and have a look at the below sperm comet test link- it can be done in clinics or ordered to home..
