How long after receiving your protocol did you receive your medication?

Just a quick one I’m concerned about time. I know I’m going to be starting my injections at the start of my cycle but I am yet to receive my protocol, although I expect it at the start of the week. How long after this did you receive your medication? I am with Care fertility on my first and only NHS funded round. Thank you x

On my NHS funded round they gave me a prescription which I had to take down to the hospital pharmacy and it was about a 30min wait.

When I was paying they gave me the prescription and I could choose where to get it from. We got a few quotes but the hospital pharmacy was still the cheapest and quickest. xxx

Thank you, I’ve had confirmation that it gets delivered to my house from a private company. I just hope it comes soon after I receive protocol otherwise I’ll have to wait another month which is obviously rather not do xx

Ah ok, not sure how long that would take. Fingers crossed it isn’t too long for you and you can get on with it. xxx

Hey, I received mine the day before my period was expected.. was getting very antsy thinking it won’t be delivered on time but once your protocol is in place and a prescription is done, it should be next day delivery. Good luck

Hi, I'm with the same clinic via NHS as you and they use a company called stork the clinic advise them of the date you need to start your medication and they ring you to confirm a delivery date. They tend to work on a date basis but it will arrive before you are due to start for me I was due to start medication on the Monday they rang me the thursday before and offered me either a Friday or saturday delivery date you then get a text to confirm timeslot.

With our clinic as soon as we were good to go, we got our protocol and medication straight away. All I needed to do was contact the clinic on day 1 of my cycle

This sounds the same as what they have said to me. I think I’m about 12 days until day 1 of my cycle so I’m starting to panic that I won’t have the medication in time because I haven’t received my protocol yet, but my consultant did say that everything should be in place to start at my next cycle, I am hoping as soon as I receive my protocol (which I receive through an online portal) that my medication is also sent I just feel like we are getting really close to the line. I know I shouldn’t fixate on dates but it’s hard not to xx

We didn’t have any online portals fir things.

I had a face to face nurse consultation whereby she went through the short protocol I was on, and gave me the plan to take home along with my drug chart.

On the same day I got my prescription and went and purchased this straight away from the hospital pharmacy

I wasn’t at the same clinic as you, but a large one in London.

Private fertility prescription companies can deliver quickly once they receive your prescription. So try not to worry. To give yourself some peace of mind, you could always double check with your clinic that they have sent off your prescription. This usually happens once your clinic agrees your protocol.

If the system is anything like the last 2 clinics I was with, the fertility prescription company will call you once they have your prescription, take payment and you will choose the day they deliver.

I am with Care Fertility. Once the protocol is on the portal, your medication script will be uploaded separately. Ours is self funded so had to call and pay for the medication over the phone. Once paid, reception will inform the home delivery pharmacy to call you to arrange delivery. Mine arrived 3 days later.

I am with Care too. Stork delivery and they said call the week before if you can, but it was a few days. It’s all very quick, don’t worry. Good luck x

As per previous responses, your delivery is (only) triggered by the phone call between you and Stork. There is nothing that forbids you from calling Stork yourself, and arranging the date. I have had 3 rounds ‘with them’ and that phone calls is the key for securing your delivery. They have been very reliable except for the last delivery where they were out of stock on my main drug and I had to chase them to get the remainder order to be delivered and on time. Call Stork so you can relax about it 🌞 Mon-Fri 8-18pm 08000778737

Thank you Carelia I had been told they would contact me so it’s good to know that I can ring them to arrange it myself. I just want to be organised if I can but I’ve quickly learnt that’s pretty impossible with infertility xx

Thank you all for your replies it’s given me more of an idea and it seems that stork can generally deliver quickly so I’ll call the clinic tomorrow to see where they are at with everything. I’m worried about my period being a few days early which sometimes it is and everything not being ready in time. Just another wait which we can all do without I think xx

I’m with Care. I am private so had to call and pay for meds which triggered the call from Stork. I’m Sharing my experience as protocol never arrived via the portal, which caused other issues for me.

For peace of mind Bluedestiny, my advice is to call your clinic on Monday to get things moving. That way you know it’s all in hand and you have enough days for the meds to be delivered. Stork will work with you to agree the best day for delivery. I hope that helps.

They don't deliver too early because some of them have to be stored in the fridge (so don't do a big shop when you know your delivery is due!)

Care didn't upload my protocol to the portal, I assumed because it was over Christmas so I actually didn't have my protocol before starting. I just called the clinic on the first day of my period and they told me over the phone which one to start and then they uploaded the protocol 2 days later before I introduced the 2nd injection.

Thank you everyone for all your replies I called the clinic this morning and my protocol has been uploaded this afternoon and my meds should arrive on Thursday which is in good time for my cycle. Appreciate everyone’s help and advice thank you. All very real now and pretty nerve wracking tbh. I have been basically telling myself it isn’t going to work (I know people might not agree with this but I feel like it’s the only way I can protect myself) xx
