Hi guys I have had 3 miscarriages and am now on progesterone pessaries, high does folic acid and aspirin. All seems to be going well I have my 8 week scan next week but my stomach feels so tender and almost inflamed like I am wodnering if this is a result of constipation as well. I am just scared the progesterone pessaries will stop me from bleeding even if I do miss carry. Does any one know if this is the case?

Hi Hopexo1
I'm so glad all is going well with your pregnancy.
Have you had your booking appointment with the midwife yet? I had 4 miscarriages and as a result I'm now consultant-led for this pregnancy, which means I get extra reassurance scans and tailored treatment. The consultant is wonderful and I feel so much more supported and less alone with my thoughts. It definitely helps keep the worries at bay.
Could you speak to the midwife about your stomach troubles? I can't remember the side effects of the pessaries, however I also had progesterone injections so perhaps they can swap to these if it's the pessaries are causing the problems. I also had constipation and found that a Fibogel sachet before bed really helped.
I know the progesterone pessaries did tend to delay my period after a failed cycle but I'm not sure whether they would be strong enough to prevent a miscarriage starting. I really hope it doesn't get happen, but the midwife or your consultant should confirm when to stop taking these in the event that a miscarriage is confirmed.
I completely understand the anxiety you must be going through at the moment and sending a big hug. Wishing you all the best with your scan next week and hoping you will be able to relax a little afterwards
xx
Hi Caroliono - did you request a midwife on your own? Or did your RE suggest it. I just had my second miscarriage
I'm really sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I registered with the midwife once I had my viability scan at 7 weeks. I managed to get a first appointment that week and then booking appointment at 9 weeks. I was concerned about my drugs supply running out (clexane, prog etc.) and also wanted the referral to consultant-led care (due to rec.mcs) asap. In the end my clinic supplied a prescription to cover the additional drugs.
