Just had the news that out of 28 eggs collected on Wednesday, only 2 have made it to today which they want to transfer tomorrow. We were so sure we'd make to to day 5.
What's really confusing me is that out of 14 that fertilised they automatically froze 9 on day 1 and only left 5 to develop. Apparently that's what they like to do in that clinic. So many questions - I hope I can get some answers tomorrow.
In the meantime, does anyone have any positive stories about 3 day transfers when the plan was originally 5 day?
Wishing everyone else the best on their journeys. This is tough x

Hi mrsb86. So sorry to hear that you are so anxious, but remember, I have been in the fertility business for over 20 years now, and we only ever did 2 or 3 days transfers, as blastocysts hadn't happened then. However, we still got many successes, which was fantastic. Your little embies will be back inside you tomorrow, where they belong, so fingers crossed they will continue to thrive. Thinking of you. Diane
Thanks Diane - that does make me feel better. Do you know the possible reason behind freezing 9 on day 1? I'm in Germany so the language barrier means I can't ask so many questions to the embryologist and my husband doesn't understand the process well enough to ask the right questions either!
Hi mrsb86. When you produce quite a few eggs as you have, often in the UK they fertilisae what they can to let you recover from the large egg collection. They then do FET 2 months later. I think what they have done is to try you with a few, which we used to do a long time ago, so the cycle wasn't completely wasted, then obviously freeze the rest. Hope that makes sense. Diane
hi, you have a great chance still. I had the same panic when we were suddenly called in For day 3 transfer of 2embryos after all others stopped progressing-5cell and 8cell. We got a bfp and now almost 10 weeks. Don't get me wrong the emotional side was torture...what went wrong...whizzed through my head constantly but there's always hope. Good luck 🍀 x
Thank you so much for this. This is exactly what I needed to hear. I'm already feeling much better since posting this earlier. I think it was the initial shock but it's all sunken in now. Ready for tomorrow and now looking forward to bringing my little embryos home. Congratulations on your bfp! Wishing you a happy, healthy pregnancy! X
thank you! I posted almost an identical post when we were on the way to the clinic for transfer and the amount of positive stories made me feel a million times better. Just wait for them to all roll in x
