Hi need some advice please ladies.

I was due to have an appointment on Wednesday (17th July) they called me today and told me In a voicemail that it’s been cancelled and moved to the Thursday (18th) the problem is I work with kids and due to our ratios I don’t think I can have the Thursday to go to the appointment but the Wednesday was possible, I phoned the hospital to discuss this, they have said that their next available apply is the 28th November, they won’t do a telephone appointment I think they may have taken my phone call as cancellation and moved it to the next available in November anyway.

So any advice what I do now? Who do I phone? Can they even leave it that late to cancel an appointment?

Just sending myself crazy

Thanks Kelly

Ring them tomorrow and explain that you want to keep the appointment for Thursday can you not then explain to your manager it’s really important and that you cannot cancel as you will be waiting so long. Its so hard when you have to adhere to ratio’s

Aww What an impossible situation for you! You should be able to call the clinic directly and have the conversation with them?

Unfortunately (depending on what treatment you may be having) there will be lots of appointments for you to attend. Is this something you have discussed with your manager? :)

So my manager knows everything I think she is a little gutted she can’t potentially help as she knows how long I may have to wait but I’m more annoyed with the hospital about cancelling so short notice. X

I totally understand, you will have built yourself up! There might be a cancellation for you, maybe call and keep asking?

I just meant for future, there will be lots of times you need to go and wont be able to give your manager lots of notice. Blood tests, scans etc. Xx

Completely agree xx

I probably wouldn’t have told my manger and just rang in sick they’d find cover.

I'm not sure whereabouts in the world you are but I'm a teacher in the UK and found the school supportive about appointments and compassionate leave. I know not everywhere is the same but what some of the other ladies have said is right - you will be told to come back for appointments the following day or in two days sometimes so really need the flexibility. If you think you might not get that when the time comes you might want to pull the sickness card ... Xx
