Devastated IVF cycle cancelled 😢

Didn’t think this bit of the journey would be this hard, I prepared myself more that the egg collection / seeing how many / fertilizing and transfer back would be the challenging bits.

No one really prepared me that after 14 days of stims 6 scans my cycle is cancelled due to poor reaction from stims.

I’m in bits and it’s so early on, the best bit is I have lots of follicles, but one made it to 20mm the rest just didn’t develop even with increased dose of Gonal F.

Such a longer journey ahead made longer with a cancelled cycle and a suggestion to have August off before starting Stims again.

Oh damn, I’m sorry to hear! Indeed, there’s all these hurdles you’re not even aware of until you’re forced to cross them! My first cycle had a good amount of eggs and decent fertilisation, but then they all started fragmenting. So we had nothing to transfer. I really hadn’t seen that coming and it hit me badly. Having a cancelled cycle sounds terrible. Think about it like this: at least you’re not having your hopes up for even longer to then not get to transfer... As my consultant said my first cycle: “don’t worry, we’ve learned about your body. I promise next will be different”. True to his word, it was. We used a different stimulation drug instead of Gonal F, did a double trigger and I got more and better quality eggs. Ended up with 8 quality blastocysts on day 5. The one transferred in fresh gave me my gorgeous daughter, now trying for a sibling from the frozen ones. Hang in there. They’ll try something different next time and hopefully it’ll work! Xx

Hang in there and hopefully it'll be ok. I know it's much easier said than done. I've just had my second cycle cancelled too, I'm gutted! Different reason to yours and I need to wait 3 months now! It's so so hard, you put your life on hold for it all. Best of luck to you xx

It's bloody disappointing when that happens as you psyche yourself up for it and then its upsetting to be told no it's been postponed.

I’m so sorry to read this, must have completely thrown you, I really hope your clinic are flexible and look to change things with your new round. I think you have to think of this journey as a hurdle race, you’ve got over some but just got a bit stuck behind one, I am sure with a fair wind begin you the next Round when you are ready will be heaps better but sending you hugs for what you are dealing with now xx
