I don’t know what to do 😩

I’ve not long got off the phone with the professor at Coventry, we’ve discussed the results from my NK cells biopsies. The first result was normal, and the second came back as low. He says that this is perfectly normal and he doesn’t want to prescribe any steroids etc as he thinks that it will eventually just work for us.

I’ve had 3 failed transfers and have only got one frostie left. I really wanted to try something different for this 4th transfer.

Do I even bother doing it or do I try and raise the funds to do another fresh cycle. Could it be that all the embryos from this first cycle are duds?!

I just don’t know what to do for the best 😩😩😩

Any advice would be greatly appreciated xx

Hi, sorry to hear your no further forward. It’s so frustrating it’s it 🤯 I haven’t got much advice but know how you feel. My NK results were the same. And haven’t been able to be offered any thing different. About to go for our 5th fresh cycle! The only difference this time is I had a polyp removed. I was told by the professor at Coventry that it’s just time! But we’ll be moving to donor after this. Have you asked for your cycle to be changed at all? Different drugs? Different dose? Short/long? Have you taken DHEA? Or have you had a good outcome up to implantation failure? My clinic don’t like to change tings when it seems to work. They just can’t help with RIF 🤷‍♀️😩 xxx

I’ve only done one fresh cycle on a short protocol. 6 eggs were collected and all 6 fertilised, 4 made it to day 5. So we had a fresh 5 day transfer and then I’ve had 2 frozen 5 day transfers. The blastocysts were all pretty decent grades (I know this really doesn’t matter 😄)

I had an endo scratch on my third transfer. I won’t be bothering to have that again.

I’m 33 so considered “young” in the ivf world 😄

Everything seems to go to plan up until implantation.

I don’t know a lot about DHEA, what is it used for? It’s not been mentioned to me by any doctors or nurses.

That’s good numbers. We’ve never made any to freeze. Last cycle we got to blastos and I thought that might be from DHEA. You can’t get it in the UK so it can’t be prescribed by my consultant did agree I take it if I was happy to source it. Meant to improve egg quality.

Hiya. I had my NK Cells tested at the same place and both of my results were low. I remember getting really upset after the phone call with the professor. There is no treatment for low! He kept saying it's not a problem and I should just keep trying. At that point I had three BFN with my own eggs. I was so depressed and slightly annoyed with the professor wishy washy explanation of my results. I then switched to donor eggs and I had a chemical pregnancy. Despite the chemical pregnany I am hopeful that I got pregnant and will keep trying. Keep the faith!

I would say if it's implantation, ask about taking baby aspirin and/ or clexane. We were unexplained and had never been pregnant but one of my blood tests suggested I could have antiphospholipid syndrome (I didn't in the end) so just to give us the best chance with our ivf cycle I was put on baby aspirin and clexane and it worked first time which was a bit of a shock after 3 years of trying and nothing. I really think ours was an implantation issue and this helped- i've just turned 30 and now have a 3 month old. It does bug me when they don't pay as close attention to younger couples. Just because we're younger doesn't mean we can't have problems! Good luck xx

Sorry to hear that you havent gotten any further forward, I was really hoping you would get more answers!! I would have thought it unlikely at your age that all your embryos were duds but even with PGS there isnt anyway to ensure implantation. We have recently disovered since our last transfer that my progesterone is too low to sustain pregnancy and it may well be coincidence but on my last two BFP I have taken progesterone for a full 6 days prior to transfer rather than 5 so not sure if this improved the enviroment for implantation. That said I did take prednisolone as a new addition for both of my BFP's - not on the say so of my consutlant but because I'd tried everything else and its such a low dose I thought what's the harm!. My clinic are going to modify my cycle this time to give me more progesterone (adding in injections as well as pessaries) and will test my levels on transfer day and adjust accordingly. Something else to think about in amongst the new cycle or trying your frozen embie.xx

Hey Jebby! Just wanted to say I know how frustrating it is being a young couple with what look like good embryos but no bfps. We ended up with 3 embryos out of our 6 collected, all good grades and like you each failed to implant. Our issue is simply tubal and it has been dealt with. At this point, haven’t had any further tests as my feeling is something just wasn’t right with this stim cycle. I do think frustratingly a lot of it is a numbers game. I often think about those lucky buggers trying for a baby the regular way. They have just 20% chance each month... Everything has to be just right. Anyway, don’t know what the point of this comment was other than to say your frustration totally resonates with me as does the immense fear of having to go through the pain all over again. Each fail is so traumatising and it is so hard to not be able to do (control) something to prevent the pain. Xxxx
