Hopefully starting IVF soon!

Hi lovelies, not been on here before. Had our consultation last year for IVF after we found out my husband has low sperm count after 3 years of trying! BMI just over so have been getting healthy and losing weight since, 8lb to go! 😁, getting excited to start! We are going to exeter Devon, wondered if anyone knew what its like? Waiting times etc? Also thinking about taking folic acid, anyone know if this is ok to take before IVF?? Love reading all these stories on here, it's really helped spur me on!

:-) xx

Amazing news! It’s very exciting once you get closer to starting. Definitely start taking folic acid. It’s something that’s recommended before you conceive anyway. I don’t anything about clinics in Devon but can say my experience with the NHS (not sure if you’re private?) has been amazing. An overall very positive experience. Best of luck to you xx

Definitely :-) little anxious but feel ready for whatever now :-), how did you find the treatment? Hopefully there wont be too much of a waiting time to get started :-), ah that's so good to hear, thankyou!!! 🙏🙏🤞🤞 xx

Treatment was absolutely fine. I thought I’d be really hormonal but I was just a bit bloated and achey towards the end. The egg collection was a huge emotional release and putting the embryo back in was strangely beautiful with my husband there. There were a couple of wobbly moments (which I think is expected) but all in all very positive. Before we took the test I said to my husband that I wouldn’t hesitate to do any of it again. Best of luck to you x

Hi Nala04, us too!! Really anxious and would love to follow your thread to see what advice people give. I’d love to know what to prepare and how!! Specially if there are any consultation questions we should ask? Good luck and I’m hoping we both find info we need xx

I feel anxious about the injections mainly, never been very good ha, but my husband says he will do it for me, but I'm sure I'll get used to it! :-), hopefully we can follow each others journey! :-)

Massive good luck to you!! 🤞💕

We’re still at consultation stage, it’s yet to be determined which we’ll go for as we have male factor! So frustrating exciting and anxious all at the same time, so hard to understand how I feel sometimes! How about you doll? Hubby will do it for you then that’s even better!! Keeping everything crossed and baby dust to all xx

Totally get that, when we had our consultation it was exciting, scary, and I felt sad for my husband as he was gutted the problem was with him :-( but we feel so strong now :-). Yeh I get quite emosh sometimes but happy at the same time it's weird, and everyone around you seems like they get pregnant at the drop of a hat , just so happy we are getting help :-), iv read up alot on it all recently, and feel very ready to start! Exciting times! But trying not to get my Hope's up too much for the first round.

Xx

Can’t offer advice about your clinic as we went to manchester, but after our first consultation it was 4 months until we started, also most clinics recommend you start folic acid and vitamin D before you start treatment. Just wanted to say good luck, stay positive and look after yourself! Xx

Hiya, welcome to the forum! My partner and I have been referred to Exeter fertility clinic too, we have had our initial consultation, just having more tests done (HSG this morning) as we’re currently unexplained. Exeter seem great so far, we went to an open evening there which was a really useful insight into the clinic - would recommend if you get chance. Initial consultation to IVF starting was advised about 6 months

Good luck in your journey xx
