Hi everyone.. I am going to have my FET on Monday. What is the next thing to do? Should I be resting for how many weeks? Do I need to eat or drink anything before and after? Any advises?

Hi,

We are hoping to have our FET on Wednesday next week, this will be our second FET.

Our clinic like you to go with a full bladder but not too full! They advise no exercise on day of transfer then normal activities. I will be having acupuncture post transfer and trying to take it easy. Good luck! Xx

Hi, thank you.. should I be lying in bed the whole day?

Relatively full bladder and try to relax prior to transfer. Afterwards no bathing, swimming, alcohol, minimise coffee, no heavy exercise like aerobics. Take it easy and no heavy lifting although gentle walking is ok. Eat healthily and have a balanced diet. I'm going back to work however I dont have a heavy going job and it keeps me sane! Good luck.xx

I’m quite confused.. some say to stay in bed for the whole week.. some say resume activities.. is it a bed rest or can still do some household work?

As long as you don’t lift anything heavy, get on with normal life x

Still do light things, no heavy lifting. I cant think of anyone that has spent the 2ww in bed!xx

Hi, if I may say, I think you should exercise a little bit during your two weeks. I mean go for a gentle walk every day. That’s what my clinic recommended to me as you need to get the blood flow for your little emby. Also, it will be good for your mood as the two weeks can be tough emotionally. No heavy lifting and no housework too. That’s what I was told. I wish you the very best of luck. It’s such an exciting time! Take care xx

Just make sure to rest before the transfer. Relax your mind. Don't stress over it and try to stay positive. You will be required to go full bladder as well. Good luck to you. I hope it all goes well for you. Stay strong!

Good luck for your transfer, you’re going to be fine! You need a full bladder like others have said, our clinic told us not to wear perfume or aftershave as it can destroy the embryo when carrying it from the lab to where I was laying. I was already off work but spent the 2ww seeing friends and family, watching some movies, going for walks, resting, basically doing whatever I wanted! I also read somewhere to have McDonald’s chips straight after transfer to increase salt levels and wear fluffy socks as much as possible to keep your feet warm 🤣 I sat in the back all the way home with my legs up, this may all be a load of rubbish but I was willing to try anything and it worked for me! Xxx

Hello,

Good luck for your upcoming transfer x I would take it easy on the day of the transfer and then go back to your normal life, I wouldn’t recommend staying in bed ... you want to have good blood circulation which means you have to move, lying in bed will not do any good x good luck 🍀

Hiya, I didn't stay lying down for long - about 20 minutes, then had a half hour ride back from the clinic. I went for a gentle walk a couple of hours after my transfer, this was both to keep my blood circulation up and as it was a relaxing activity. My clinic in Cyprus was way more relaxed (compared to my previous UK clinic) about Do's and Dont's for transfer: Do's: Stay hydrated, relax, resume normal activity the next day. Dont's: Swimming (especially in a pool or still water) due to possibility of infection, overheating (so no sunbathing, saunas, or anything that could raise your core body temperature). I don't know how much any of these things helped, but I did have a positive test result and now 4w+2. I guess I'd say try to do things things that make you feel relaxed and happy as much as possible... Sending you best wishes and sticky baby dust xx

One more thing that helped me stay relaxed was listening to IVF relaxation/meditation tracks throughout the process. There are some specifically for transfer and 2ww... some are free, have a look on YouTube if you want to try it 😊 xx

I have not changed many things after my FET, and I'm now 20 weeks pregnant and looking after a toddler (also IVF) as well, so rest and sleep is not really my luxury. Do whatever makes you feel good I'd say...except from drinking alcohol, smoking or extreme exercise of course.

Best of luck!!

Give yourself some time to rest but otherwise try and carry on as normal as you can but avoiding heavy lifting etc.

Higher success rates with FETs (I am now 35 weeks pregnant following an FET so hope to have given you some hope also)

Best of luck x
