Sharing my top tips from my frozen embryo transfer

These are my tips for my situation. Maybe some can help you ladies too:

- Only drink 2 small glasses of water (I drank way too much!!!)

- Wear a long dress so it’s easy to get dressed after

- Don’t wear a pad because it’s awkward in the room to get rid of the pad

- Take 5 very deep breaths before the transfer

- Ask to lie down a bit after transfer in the chair, I had to get up straight away which just felt wrong

- Have your car ready in the hospital garage to go straight home, don’t go to a cafe and don’t park far away

- Lie flat on your back or sit up straight without crossing legs when at home for first day (I laid down on my side and had legs up so now I play mind games in my head and think I’ve ruined it or have an ectopic pregnancy, so would have been better for my mind if I would have just laid on my back, probably doesn’t make a difference, but mentally it would have been better)

- Don’t go on long bumpy car rides (same as above, mentally it’s easier to know you haven’t done anything weird)

- Go for short walks

- Stay warm!!

- Use myfitnesspal to eat healthy to ensure you get all macros and don’t eat too much sugar

- Have planned meals prior to transfer for each meal and healthy snacks

- Don’t eat out because you will worry about the food

- Have lots of podcasts, movies and tv shows ready to watch to keep your mind off it

- Don’t take too much time off work as you then have too much time to worry and think about it

- Have sex night of transfer and Have sex night after transfer (doctors orders)

Our clinic also said no sex and were very insistent! Strange how everyone gets different advice?

Very interesting but different things work for different people. Straight after the transfer we got the tube into London, did a long walk, had a meal and went to the theatre. I was back at work the next day and tried to carry on as "normal". We are very lucky and we got a BFP our little miracle is now 6months old xx

Same. I went on my sister’s hen do a few hours after my transfer (although I didn’t stay out late with the others and obv no drinking). My little boy is now 13 months.

Think I agree about not drinking too much water though. I drank the recommended amount of water and my transfer was about 30 mins later than planned. Really not comfortable! 😂

Aww congratulations lovely!

I definitely drank too much they actually asked me to empty some of my bladder during the transfer which was quite amusing and a task and a half xx

Yes I went on long drives and walks but I regretted it and it would have been easier mentally if I wouldn’t have. I kept thinking horrible thoughts that I had ruined it because I went on long walks etc so these are tips to make it mentally easier. I had a BFP

Aww bless you hun. Everyone is different. We are very lucky. Dont be too hard on yourself but do what you feel is right and what you will be happy with. Wishing you so much luck xx

I think it's best to try not to obsess about every single thing you do, the ivf process is hard enough.

After my successful transfer we got the train home via my favourite Italian restaurant. I probably crossed my legs because I do most of the time. I even had parmesan cheese on my pasta!

Then we went for a stroll in the sun. I ended the day watching a laugh out loud comedy. I was back at work within a couple of days running around after children.

Hope you got/get your BFP. Try and relax but keep occupied.

Yeah we were told no intercourse for the tww due to risk of infection. Also it is totally fine to not lay down afterwards. I jumped straight up and went straight for a wee! We then went on a shopping trip and had a meal at a restaurant, I drove 3 hours home on very bumpy terrain (Yorkshire moors for you). I sat/laid however I wanted when I got home 🤷‍♀️ it genuinely is not going to effect whether implantation occurs or not. That's all up to the embryo. Currently 9w5d pregnant after all the above x

Yes, see how I wrote that mentally it affected me as I kept telling myself I had ruined it by moving around too much so mentally it would have been better to avoid all those things that I could blame myself for.

I know the mental games/torture is hard. But you cant alter every aspect of your life, in fact some research suggests success rates are better by just carrying on as normal x
