I’m 26 and have been diagnosed with PCOS. I have been doing day 21 blood ovulation tests for months and all of my progesterone results have come back low meaning ovulation hasn’t occurred. My GP doesn’t want to do anything until I want children but I want to get this sorted now rather than wait and be stressed out at the time to trying for a family. I don’t know where to go or what to do from here. Only thing GP has advised is to lose some weight (only just over my BMI). Is there a reliable treatment for progesterone? I’m terrified this means that’s I won’t be able to have children.

Low progesterone and ovulation
There is not really a cure for pcos. Being around your ideal weight can help. Everything else is management of symptoms. For this, the pill works well, metformin helps sometimes, a low carb diet can help and supplements like myova. This might help regulate hair growth, cycle length, weight gain and ovulation. Once you want kids, there is the option to induce ovulation with medication, so don't worry too much. It is very likely you can have kids
Hello
I have PCOS and also don’t ovulate. There is no treatment apart from fertility treatments unfortunately. Losing weight is important as it worsens your symptoms. Losing weight to achieve a lower healthier BMI (20-25) might improve ovulation in your case and other symptoms of PCOS.
As frustrating as it is (I’ve been there) there isn’t really anything else for your doctor to do. I’m now trying to have a baby for a couple of years and we start IVF next month. However lots of women with PCOS go on to have children without having to go down the IVF route.
Hope this helps
