How do you calculate day 1 if AF started after 5pm?

Hi,

I'm supposed to call my Dr on day 1 (first day of my period) so I can arrange a scan and bloods to be taken on day 2. However my period didn't start till 5:10pm last night. Should I say today is Day 1 or is today day 2? It was heavy enough last night to need a tampon (sorry TMI).

I was advised that day 1 is where you wake up bleeding so it’s my understanding that today would be day 1 for you 😊 I’d always phone your clinic to double check though! Wishing you lots of luck 💕 xxx

Ah that makes it clearer. I've read so many different things about anything before noon is Day 1. Then others day before 4pm and even 6pm so I'll also call clinic to double check. Thanks for replying

I got told if bleed after 4pm then the next day is classed as day 1
