Anyone else confused with all this?

So I’m 36, my partner is 41. We’ve been trying for about 18 months and have been referred to the hospital.

I had blood tests and a scan at my doctors (which came back as”ok”) and he’s had 2 sperm samples. The first was a bad result as nothing met the normal levels, but the second was good and everything was at or above the level it should be. He was advised by the specialist at the hospital to take Proxeed sachets, which he had been doing for about a week before the second sample (£80 a month tho!)

I had a blood test at the hospital a couple of weeks ago and called today for results. They said my AMH “wasn’t bad” at 6.3, but my FSH was “too high” at 10.1 (should be between 2.9 and 8).

It’s all so confusing... The next step is a telephone call from the hospital in a month’s time to tell us what the next steps are. Oh, and we don’t get any funded IVF where we live 😞

I don’t really know what the results mean, and when I said this the lady I spoke to said to relax and keep having sex... Anyone else having a hard job understanding it all? I’ve looked on google but it sends me into a panic over early menopause!

It seemed like first off there was a sperm issue which is now ok, now it’s an egg issue. Sigh!

Hi Luna, our story is somewhat similar to yours in terms of sperm /amh (I can't remember what my fsh was - my memory is awful these days!). Sorry to hear you don't get any funded Ivf! the postcode lottery is so unfair! I know what you mean re Google. it's my worst enemy so I try not to go on there anymore but easier said than done.

Hope you find out more soon and some other ladies /men on here can shed some light on the results

Big hugs xx

I think the FSH can be an age thing, I’m not getting any younger and all that... 🤦🏻‍♀️

Thanks for your reply, it’s very confusing and feels quite lonely at times xxx

My Husband took proxceed def not a cheap option but I do think it improved his issues! It says it needs about 3 months to make a difference. My amh was also 5.2 I can’t comment to much on fsh as I can’t remember mine but I am sure it’s something that can be helped! Good luck to you both. I ended up with a natural pregnancy nearly 2 years later after failed ivf and fibroids xx

Ah wow that’s great news!! Gives me hope 😊

Fingers crossed the Proxeed will improve things, there’s been a good result already so we’re hopeful still.

Xxx
