Failed Ivf Cycle.. No blasts and no transfer

Well the title says it all. My second cycle was a complete disaster. None of my 5 embryos made it to blast on day 6. So I'm left with nothing my clinic has no answer to why.

When I started with them they did a Panda & karyotype blood test... However after 2 cycles they still never gave me results. They said lab is busy and results will be ready soon. On their website it says the test will determine main cause of infertility. Should I have pushed more?

Also no baseline scan is done and neither any blood tests to determine hormones during cycle. I never get to speak to the doctor.. Only to the coordinator.

Is this normal? Should I trust the clinic? Should I move on to donor?

Please let me know what are your opinions?

Im so sad and depressed. My clinic is not giving any support.

I am really sorry to know about your cycle. I can understand how hard this must be for you. However, dont lose hope. Stay strong and positive. Just make sure that you get a second opinion on this. Visit another doctor and show them your report. They might have an answer to your queries. The doctor you visit should be experienced.

You should ask to speak to the doctor, not the coordinator. You need his or her opinion. What happened to the two grade A/B blastocysts you had from before? Did they transfer them? X

Hello Anna,

The other two blastocysts are cryopreserved as we had originally paid for Pgs before the start of the treatment. The inic informed me that it takes 5 weeks to get results back. I'm holding on hope on my little 2 embryos and pray that they pass Pgs test.

I have asked my coordinator to speak to my doc but till now I have received no reply

Wishing you lots of luck. It’s also worth noting that research has shown that “abnormal” embryos can still develop into normal pregnancies....

To have two quality blastocysts from two cycles is actually really good. If they do pass PGS test that’s an 80% chance! If they don’t/you don’t test, it is a 50% chance so you have good reason to be positive xx

Hi Lorita, I'm so sorry to hear about your cancelled cycle. We only had 3 fertilised eggs last time and had a day 2 transfer because of the low number. We also have a few gripes about our clinic, you really have to push for answers. I really hope your next cycle goes better. Good luck xxx

I'm pushing for more answers. Its such a long wait until we receive Pgs results. This infertility journey is so hard. I hope I get more answers from my clinic.

Hi Lorita,

I have have just replied to your other post and have just read this one. The clinic you describe sounds a bit sketchy to me. When I started my IVF I was told up front that it is a long process and for some people it takes a long time to find answers why we are not getting pregnant, what causes miscarriage, what is the best approach with stimulating meds etc.. my doctor told me that per each IVF egg retrieval you can expect one or two embryos that can become a baby ( given that there isn’t any other problem like, endo, NK cells, and tons of other problems that people have ..) he said that if a healthy couple tries for a baby they will be successful after a year of trying, that means that one or two months in a year a woman will produce a healthy egg and will get pregnant, same with IVF, out of the 12 eggs, you will probably have one or two healthy... ( I was 34 at the time, diffent odds might apply to younger people)

They did not push any tests on me and actually said to be aware that many clinics today are making money out of people and pushing test that are very expensive and before they even know that these people might need them.

Another thing that would worry me is that you never see a doctor or have a blood test to see what is going on, I have blood test every two days on my cycle to see if the hormone levels are ok ( last time I had a cycle that started very well and then 2 days before collection my estrogen dropped so we had to cancel, doctor said if we went ahead and collected the eggs i would have spend a lot of money and it wouldn’t have worked as the eggs would have been bad quality, so you see how important blood test can be)
