Just got the go ahead for egg retrieval for Monday morning. Excited but super scared. Will I feel anything during the op? I’m aware that post op I’ll be quite sore. Any advice prior Monday would be most helpful!

I had a sedation and didn’t feel a thing, I had OHSS and felt a lot less bloated after the retrieval! Good luck! Remember to drink loads of water afterwards, it does help.

I can honestly say I didn’t feel a thing and had no issues after. I was so nervous but it was great. I opted for the pain killer suppository as I would be fast asleep anyway lol and that lasts up to 16 hours. I woke up laughing. You will be fine lovely even if there is discomfort after it’s short term pain for long term gain. Good luck x

I had light sedation for my egg collection and I never felt a thing. I woke up very crampy and sore afterwards but no pain or recollection of the procedure happening. All I remember is them talking to me as they put it through the drop and felt like they were getting further away and blurry then must’ve fell asleep. Good luck hope all goes well xxx

This process was uncomfortable there is no getting away from it, but it’s only a short one. They kept yelling out how many eggs were being collected so that kept me going. I wore some warm socks, the staff were great and just try and keep the end result in mind. I’m 7+2 now and it was all worth it. Good luck with it.

For me, it's the best part of IVF! They sedate you and you just go off for a lovely sleep and wake up and it's done and you just feel sleepy. Doesn't take long (I'd appreciate a much longer snooze if I'm honest!! Good luck xx

I was sedated but didn’t actually sleep- I remember most of it but some parts are a little hazy. I felt something but nothing much.

The worst part is working yourself up before it! I was so scared but the staff in theatre did a brilliant job of making me feel better, as I’m sure they will with you.

I felt good after the collection, I took one lot of painkillers- mainly as precaution because they told me to and I took it easy- watched films all afternoon, but I didn’t really feel sleepy!

I was quite uncomfortable before the egg collection and by the next day I felt completely back to normal. It was so nice!

Remember why you’re going through it all, it makes the whole process a little bit easier and be kind to yourself.

Good luck with your collection and the rest of your journey!! 🤞🤞 xx

Thank you so much... this is exactly how I am feeling, the same as you did! I’m very scared for tomorrow, I hate hospitals at the bast of times haha never mind for an op! But you’re right about feeling uncomfortable... I am feeling extremely uncomfortable right now I can’t wait to get these eggs out 😂

Thank you for your post, it’s honestly helped me feel better xxx

Any other questions please message me. On the whole I’ve had a really good experience throughout so I will be honest with you but no horror stories here! Really good luck, I’ll be thinking of you! Xx

I’m such a wimp when it comes to pain, I was sedated but I did feel some pain going on during collection, they told me it was because I had a lot of follicles (they stopped counting at 50 during my scans) After this I had what felt like awful period pains but only for 30 mins. If you struggle to cope with these like I do then maybe take a heat pad to put on your tummy straight after. They also gave me pills to calm me down before the procedure which wore after just before I went in.

I was so nervous before egg retrieval but there was nothing to be nervous for! I didn't feel a thing and a was a little sore after but wasn't that bad at all. Just make sure you rest for a few days after :) good luck! X
