Got our egg retrieval date

Had our scan follicles growing nicely going back Monday for another scan and then Wednesday will be the date! I’ve been fine throughout the process but now I’m getting so bloated and tired I’m so glad we are nearly there! I’m so nervous though also do you get signed of work from the egg retrieval day? Any tips for the bloating I sit at a desk all day keep trying to get up now and then to walk around and drink water 🤦🏽‍♀️

Congrats so far! I found that peppermint tea really helped me with the bloating 😊 but generally there’s not much you can do as your ovaries are bigger!! My nurse on EC day offered me a sick note for work, I’d definitely recommend taking the day off work as you’ll want to rest and take it easy. I wasn’t in loads of pain, but minor cramping but I was a bit emotionally up and down as I was nervous beforehand! You’ll be absolutely fine though, good luck xx

Hi Soray. That can only be good news, so hope all goes well on the day and your eggs fertilise OK. For now, I would make sure you drink plenty of water to keep your urine output a nice pale colour. You can take some paracetamol for any pain, should you need to, but no anti inflammatories such as ibuprofen. Thinking of you. Diane

I'm hoping for egg collection next Wednesday too! I'm exhausted! They'll confirm with me on Monday. I am taking 2 days holiday for my egg collection, but that's only because I've had so much sick leave, and I need to use up my holiday by the end of March anyway. It's a medical procedure so it's totally legit to use a sick day for it! xxx

Sorax permit me to join ur conversation 😁, ttcemmie whats ur advice on travelling during the two weeks wait ?

My last cycle in January i was home for the TWW, this time it’s a different protocol(long) and I have holiday booked with my twin to fly a week or more into my TWW if the date goes as planned.

My cycle is very regular the nurse kind of predicted my dates for the treatment , hopefully it works as planned.

Thanks. Xx

Hi Cici! Last year I went to Crete with MY twin (&partners and parents) in the 2ww. Apart from the not drinking, I didn't see any downside to going on holiday during this time! Just make sure to take extra meds in case anything happens and you end up coming back a bit later (i.e. I took extra cyclogest pessaries). Our OTD was the last date of the holiday, which kinda sucked, but it was lovely to have my fam there for it. I would say I couldn't 100% enjoy the holiday as all I could think about was OTD, but that would have happened at home anyway and the holiday did serve as a good distraction as much as possible! xxxx

Wow you are a twin too? Nice one.😍😁

It’s a 7hour journey though but thanks for reassuring me.

How’s ur cycle going, are u on a long or short protocol ?

I'm on short (although it feels long enough!). x

We were worried about the cycle overrunning and we'd have to rearrange flights or end up not going on the holiday (worst case), but we had already booked the holiday and I didn't want to put IVF back on a "just in case" scenario. xxx
