PICSI

Can anyone give me some information on PICSI please? The consultant mentioned it at our review appointment and I was wondering if anyone has had this before and if they thought it helped. Thanks

All I know is that it is a good technique for high sperm fragmentation. A clinic offered this to us because my partner has 40% fragmented sperm and we have issues with male infertility. XX

Ps. Just read your other posts. Some doctors suggest that if embryos slow down/stop developing on Day 3 then it could be male factor. Perhaps that is why they have suggested PICSI. It would be good to have tests like sperm fragmentation, just in case xxxx

Yes, our embryos went from being perfect on day 3 to a grade C by day 5! We're currently waiting on results for the sperm fragmentation. Thank you for your response Anna xx

Sounds like you are doing all the right tests! Maybe ask for sperm antibody test too...we are looking into that.

But remember, to get a blastocyst at all is very good. It means the embryo is strong enough to survive in an artificial environment so take positivity from the fact that you are both producing blastocysts and many women have had successful pregnancies on what is considered “lower” grades. Just make sure you get a really good embryologist xxxx

Thanks Anna for the very useful advice and encouragement. We'll definitely look into the sperm antibody test. I wish you all the best of luck too with your cycle xxx
