Hi all, last January my ivf doctor suggested that I went for laparoscopic to clamp both my tube due to fluid. So, I decided to go for the clamps this Sunday before going for my 2nd ivf cycle. However, doctor also recommended that I start ivf on my next period which will be end of March.
Has anyone experienced this before? Should I have a break before start ivf cycle or straight go into it on the next period?
Any suggestions? Thanks

I had a laparoscopy and hysterscopy done recently and they said give your body 8 weeks to recover properly. I would definitely wait if it betters your chances at IVF x
Hi, I was told by obgyn doctor that I need to do ivf on next cycle to avoid any complications. She didn’t say what kind of complication. I have low AMH so my chances aren’t good to wait
Hi my lovely... I had a similar scenario... I had my tube removed in March and did a frozen transfer 2.5 months later... I’d like to have a little break in between from the lap and transfer but not too long in between... I think one cycle in between would be enough.... good luck with your lap... I did get my bfp after getting that horrid leaky tube removed and due in 3 weeks so it’s defo worth having it done xxx
Congrats! How many embryos did you transfer? Doctor suggested me to have fresh transfer rather than frozen. That’s why I am doing the laparoscopic before ivf. But no break in between, as I will jump straight to ivf on my next period. Hope it will work for me.
I transferred 2 and one took. I would defo transfer 2 if it weren’t successful. I also think doing it straight after the lap maybe beneficial as everything will be sorted and also with a fresh transfer you can try and bank as many embryos as possible for any future cycles.. xx
I hope you are well. I think you should listen to the doctors. It is important to take a break in between. This will help you recover fully. I hope things go well for you. Just take care of yourself. Good luck to you. Sending baby dust your way.
Thanks.. it would be 3 weeks break before next period start. Hope that good amount of time as that what my doctor suggested. I think it would be depending on what gonna happen during the surgery.
I had a laparoscopy and endometriosis and my left tube removed (due to a hydrosalpynx caused by the endo) on January 8th, started a FET cycle on Jan 30th, transfer happened February 18th and now I’m pregnant. It all happened very quickly! You might want a bit more of a break for a fresh IVF cycle, but my surgeon forgot that we had frozen embryos and cleared me for IVF on 1/24. Good luck!!
Oh, and I didn’t have a period until I started taking the estrogen at the start of the cycle. I’d been on the pill since a failed FET in november and skipping the placebo week.
Congrats!! Unlucky me, had no frozen embryos. Plus I have low AMH. I didn’t given any estrogen. Hope everything go well. By sharing your experience, it gave me strength and I am not alone and I can do this and it will work!
It was pretty rough the first week (but I didn’t take any pain meds, so might be easier if you do), by 2.5-3 weeks I felt pretty much back to normal. I spent a lot of time laying around with a heating pad watching Netflix, but I have four kids so I also had to take care of them while I recovered. I think I had sex about a week after, but my abdomen was still sore, so I waited another week before trying it again. It never hurt in the side that actually lost a tube, just the incision on the other side where they pulled it out. I have to look pretty hard to even find the scar now.
Hi Kikiwaits, I also have endometriosis (stage4) I had a laporosopy last year and had alot removed(chocolate cyst, 1 tube and alotof adhesions) I had my first ivf cycle then which was unsuccessful as my eggs weren't great quality. Now trying again but also have this fluid in my remaining fallopian tube, so have to have this clamped before any embryo transfer. I'm now in the egg collection process. Hoping my eggs will be better quality, as amh is really low, then going to freeze and transfer after laparoscopic. What stage was your endometriosis? It really help keep me going to hear positive experiences. I'm finding going through this process again quite scary.
Sorry to hear about yours. Mine I have no idea. Plenty ultrasound and scan before but never discovered even during abdominal surgery too. It might be appeared recently. And luckily they removed it (hopefully not mistaken it with my ovaries).
Ivf doctor suggested that I do laparoscopic first then can have fresh transfer rather than frozen embbies.
I only had stage 1 endo, but even that was enough that my Fallopian tube has turned inside out and fused shut. There were some spots on my uterus that they burned off and some adhesions near my right ovary (it was the left tube that was removed), but all of my organs and everything else was clear. When I did my fresh IVF cycle, my tubes were clear and I was “undiagnosed.” All of my hormone levels were normal and we got pregnant that cycle and froze 8 5-day AA and AB embryos. We had done three failed IUI cycles before that. I took CoQ10 supplements, which I highly recommend for egg quality.
I had a failed FET last year with the hydrosalpynx, so definitely have that clipped or removed first. It dramatically decreases your chance of success with ART. If you can do stim cycles and bank embryos first, that’s great! I wish you lots of luck!!
Thank you Kikiwaits, what a journey we have to go through. 😣
I am also taking coQ10 625mg per day, royal jelly capsules, dhea and fish oil. Really trying and hope these all help. Did you take anything else apart from coQ10? and did you continue taking throughout egg collection/embryo transfer?
It’s been five years since I did my stim cycle, so my memory is hazy, but I know I did COQ10 at least up through egg retrieval. I did fish oil throughout that cycle and the rest of my pregnancy. Never tried royal jelly.
