So three days before I started my first cycle of IVF, I managed to get a bit of a sore throat and a bit of a cold, nothing too bad. I started my down regulating injections on Saturday but my throat has got steadily worse. I feel like crap, tonsils and lymph glands swollen- am so worried this is going to affect quality and quantity of egg collection. I've been quite stressed recently so I can imagine that's been wreaking havoc with my immune system!! 😞

Sore throat, feeling rubbish - will this affect my IVF??
What protocol are you on? If you've just started injecting guessing you've got at least a couple of weeks to get better before any eggs start being made.
So many bugs going around at the moment i think quite a few of us have been thinking its going to effect things. It's hard not to be anxious about it because we want everything to go perfectly. But if bugs/ cough/ cold etc effected fertility rates there would be less babies born 9 months after the winter.
I've got transfer tentatively booked for 8th March and a stinking sinus infection and hoping it shifts for the main event.
I did have a lovely session of reflexology that seemed to help though.
Oh that's true. I'm on long protocol, so yes still got a couple weeks before I start stimms. I hope that gives me enough time to get better and sort myself out hopefully. It's just the worst timing - I've got through the whole winter without any sort of bug and as soon as I start my IVF, my body decides to play games with me 🙄
Thank you, I do hope I still have time for my body to recover and still do a good job. I hope your sinus infection clears up soon and your transfer goes well! X
Hi Fatimah. Oh dear, so sorry you feel so rubbish. It won't harm your chances, but do stick to paracetamol and plenty of fluids only, unless you have been prescribed something else. No anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen. Get well soon. Diane
Thanks Diane, that's reassuring. I've stopped taking anything other than paracetamol for almost a year now. I used to take alot of ibuprofen for my endo, but since I learnt that they can affect your ovulation (and are also not good for you) I've completely stopped taking them. Sticking to fluids and paracetamol, thank you X
I'm sure it's nothing serious. Get well soon, honey. I'm confident it won't affect your chances. I hope it all goes really well. Good luck to you! My prayers are with you. I hope you get a BFP.
Hi. I was a few weeks into long protocol and I was very poorly. I have to go on antibiotics for a severe throat and ear infection. The clinic said that I needed them and had to take them. Also they told me that they give you antibiotics at your egg collection anyway so it’s better to have them than risk not having them. Anti egg collection yesterday and had a good amount. So my advice is listen to your body and don’t put any more stress on it. If you need to take anything take it with doctors advice. Hope you feel better soon xxx
