Any advice on 'Freeze All' cycles?

Hello.

We had our nurse planning appointment last week and they said because I have very high chance of OHSS (high AMH and AFC), they would probably recommend a freeze all cycle. Has anyone had experience of this? How long do you wait between collection and frozen transfer?

Thank you.

I had one because of higher AMH. I was glad I did because I felt much better a week or 2 after EC and probably had mild OHSS in retrospect.

I had EC in June and FET middle of August so not too long in between x

Thank you, that helps give some idea of time frames. I think I just need to get my head around it as I had not even considered an extra few months, not that it's very long in the grand scheme of things! X

I had this for my 1st cycle, I was borderline OHSS so they had to due the medication they had to freeze all. My egg collection was on 7th September and my embryo transfer was on 2nd November. I definitely felt fully recovered from EC and there’s lots of research to say it’s a good approach. Good luck! x

Thank you for sharing. I'm just going to go with whatever my clinic suggest to be the safest option x

I had a freeze all after getting mild OHSS. Had the withdrawal bleed after EC then started FET medication after my next period, about 5 weeks waiting in all but definitely the right choice as I was back to 100% by transfer and it was successful first time. Good luck with yours xxx

I had a freeze all for the same reasons.

I was due to have my transfer 8 weeks after egg collection but it ended up being around 11 weeks. My ovaries were still really active so I had to down reg before starting.

Good luck!

How did they know your ovaries were still active? Scans or blood tests?

Thank you x

I had my baseline scan to start the FET meds and they could see then so I had to down regulate for about 3 weeks. The delays are so frustrating but I think having a freeze all really takes some of the pressure off and lets your body heal a bit x

Hi, I had a freeze all cycle last full round as I contracted Meningitis the night before transfer!! I had an immediate bleed and then waited for my next period to start again. I personally think frozen cycles are better and research is starting to show that too. I know it’s frustrating but not long to go. Xx

Oh gosh that must have been a worrying time for you. I don't usually have periods naturally so I guess they will want to wait a few weeks (or until any ohss has gone) before I start meds to induce a period.

Thank you x

I started my first cycle in January and ended up switching to a freeze all last min due to mild OHSS, even though I was slightly disappointed at the time in hindsight It was the best thing as it gave my body a chance to calm down abit, started back on meds after 3 periods and had embryo transfer in April, and now 28 weeks pregnant! So it can be a good option 😊 xx
